I need to replace my turn signal switch in the column. How does the steering wheel come off with the airbags? Do you need to remove the airbag? How do you do it?

If you look on the backside of the steering wheel you will see 1 hole on each side covered with a cap. Pop the caps off and remove the nuts inside. This will release the Airbag, then just unplug the bag from the harness and set it aside.

To pull the steering wheel you will need an A/C Clutch puller from Autozone. They have them in the loaner tool section part # 27001. A regular steering wheel puller will not work for these trucks.

Use this to pull the steering wheel.

Ford recommends using a new nut when reinstalling the steering wheel. It's available at the dealership for under 5 bucks.

Now beyond pulling the wheel you are on your own for this truck. I don't have any further information for ya.

just be sure to unhook your battery first. Just to be safe. If you don't and the airbag goes off, you'll wish you had!!
