The only way I can drain the water line from my fuel filter housing is to open the valve then loosen the filter cap to drain the thing. Wouldn't be a problem except the gasket is a pita to keep in place while tighting the filter back up. What am I doing wrong or what should I be doing? Many thanks for the job you guys and gals do on this site. If the answer you need is not here, you probably won't find it anywhere else. I hope you keep up the good work for at least a few more years,I'm trying for a million on the old 7.3. If she makes it in the next four years,I'll put her out to pasture.

Why are you having to loosen the cap to drain? Mine drains just by turning the yellow valve, granted it takes a few seconds to drain after that.

I use a 1/4' rubber hose from the fuel drain to a clear mason jar then start the truck watch for belts and fan blades then open the drain. It won't take long to fill the jar.
