I have a 97 f250 HD 5spd with 360,000 kms . Just out of curiosity , howuch torque would this have come with new ? Iknow that after as many kms as I have it wouldn't be the same , & I have never had it dyno'd but over the weekend , pulling my trailer (5000 lbs) I would have to gear down going up hills , while newer diesels were blowing past me with bigger trailers . I do know that newer trucks have alot more torque & with auto they just have to put the petal down . So I'm just curious , what my truck would be or been new ? Thanx people

I googled for the Specs on a 1997 F250 Diesel and did not come up with anything helpful.

I think I had the numbers on the 96 F250 auto (I think)...let me see if I can find the link.

I know how it feels to drag down with a trailer on a hill. I added a chip and it has really helped to keep pulling on an incline.

10-20 hp depending on tranny, 55 torque and different tailgate trim.

Is there a difference in the engine?...or just a firmer drive train?

I always thought the OBS 7.3 turbos were the same asspect as far as the engine and drive train...excluding exterior appearance
