    starter fluid is fine as long as you either dissable the glow plugs or wait for it to timeout. I wait to time out, one little squirt and she is off. I don't like using it...but I like walking less. Cranking is good no problem there.

    Yes, I do a fair amount of idle time. I carry 2 sets of keys so when I get out to walk around looking for cars I can let it run if I have just come off a highway or a long run. If I have just been driving around slow then I may shut it off.

    I am not sure, I really don't think it is all 8. In fact I am down to one of 3. Either 2, 4, or 6. It used oil before number 8 and 5 were changed and because I now have verified it is only mixing on the left bank it has to be one of those or maybe all of them. I am not sure how to isolate it...
