    Electric Brakes

Not sure where it will be on your truck but on my '99 F350 the plug is under the dash sort of behind the A/C controls and cubby. On my '96's it was up behind the radio, but you should have a plug under there someplace.

    99 6 speed noise

Dave, how many miles on the truck, clutch etc.? One of the problems with the 6 speed in the '99 is the pilot bearing. I have heard several people tell about the pilot bearing failing and causing damage to the transmission. I myself just went through this, the pilot bearing failed, the input...

    Dead 6 speed update

Well, they got everything apart on my truck and found the input shaft and main gear cluster are shot. What happened is tht the clutch I put in itin December broke. The clutch plate broke by one of the springs and caused the input shaft to vibrate and wobble, that in turn killed the pilot bearing...

    Tranny difference diesel and gas

Is there a difference in the 6 speed (ZF6) transmission for the gas rigs and diesel rigs? Reason I ask, tranny shop quoted me $1500.00 to rebuild the tranny then called back and said it will be $2100.00 becuase it is a diesel. Are the parts different for the diesel trans or is it another case of...

    Adding 2nd fuel tank

I saw a hookup at Northern Tool and Equipment that connects into the stock tanks vent line (I think) and gravity feeds from the aux tank. From what I read it keeps the stock tank full until the aux tank is empty. I haven't had any experience with it, just read about it.

LOST ALL POWER THEN DIED...WONT START,NEED HELP!!

Could be a bad injector too, I had a '96 that did that and it was an injector gushing oil and not letting the HP oil pump up.

Newbie here, need opinions on my engine troubles

Welcome Capricious, Your SMCT 1700 should read the codes, Mine does. From what you have described I would be looking really close at the fuel system. I ran mine out of fuel a few months ago and it took about 100 miles and 2 fuel filters to get the old girl runing right again. Once air is...

    Ball joints....

I've never heard of tightening ball joints to take out slack. The ball and socket themselves are what get slack in them, not the bolt and nut that hold them in place. I just replaced both sides on my '99, $58.00 per side for greaseable Moog joints for O'Reily's.

    FEMA trailers

Yep, exemptions have expired. We now have to log, follow hours of service (???), display signs with ICC numbers and go through the scales. There are still a lot of guys out there running without signs, no logs, no inspections and blowing past the scale, not a good idea now. We had two of our...

    Clutch problem got me stumped

Dave, thanks for the info. Pulled the pedal assembly and the pivot shaft was worn but not the total problem. Replaced the pedal assembly and still no clutch. HOSS, before you get on your high horse you should get all your fact straight. First off the tranny in these trucks isn't any harder to...

    Clutch problem got me stumped

My clutch went out last week, wouldn't disenguage. Thought the master cylender had gone out so we replaced it along with the slave cylender and still no clutch. Managed to limp the old girl home (Dalton, GA to Dallas, TX) which was a chore in itself. Pulled the tranny and found a...

    FEMA trailers

Figure about $3000+ UP FRONT???? 1. initial insurance, 2. deposit on the commercial plate, 3. CDL license (REQUIRED!) 4. medical exam, before you even pull out of the yard with your first trailer. 5. credit card with a sizable amount of credit line available, in case your truck...
