Why are 90 degree fittings needed?

The cooler has 2 barbs going towards the ground and your hoses run parallel to the ground so it might be easier. Also, you need to reduce the hose size from 1/2 to 3/8

i am not sure why you would need 90's. i used brass bar tube fittings in i think 3/8" NPT nut to butt.

photos should be self explanatory.

EDIT: the 90's might clean up the sweep of the tubing top make the route cleaner to the lines.

Did the bolt holes line up and how did you connect to the existing lines?

bolted right in.

lines out the bottom of the cooler are 1/2". lines from the tranny are 3/8"". i used the two barbed hose fittings to adapt sizes. connections to the 3/8" hardlines are jstu hose clamps. there should be some notes under the photos. ez-peezey, chicken and pie.
