Dropped the motor back in yesterday.had a liitle no oil pressure scare.pulled the distributor and spun the pump with a drill till it built pressure.fired it up with oil pressure.the lifter ticks its had since we got it have all gone away.no more ticks or knocks.no more flickering oil light.

300.00 well spent.she runs like new!

You should always prime the oil pump when you build an engine. Saves bearings.

Ya i know.i figured it would be ok since i didnt take the pump apart.not a big deal here.used a whole bottle of assembly lube on the bearings and only ran low idle for about 45 seconds.

I watched a friend, very long time ago, ruin the mains in a Chevy. He did not prime the pump and the little bit of oil that he put on the bearings didn't do the job. He probably rev'd the engine when it first started.
