Changed the oil in my truck at work yesterday... shook down the front end while I had it up in the air to check stuff... low & behold, left hub is toast and rt lower ball joint sloppy (I knew something was up, I could feel it twitch as you changed lanes on the highway)..

anyway, back to my question..

how much is one of those roller bearing conversion kits & where did you get yours?

My shop, employee pricing policy is 15% off list price for parts, and that hub bearing retails at $485 from Timken... :cussing:

so you see the reason for my curiosity...

Do you have and O'Reily auto parts near by. I just priced out bearings from them.
Lifetime warranty $296.00
1 Year warranty $206.00
I am sure you can get them online also. Way cheaper than the $1400 conversion.

tempting, but...

We've had lots of problems with off-shore built bearings... snapping, popping, premature failure, noise, etc...

We don't have O'Reilly here, but we do have NAPA...

for $1,400 bucks, that stinkin' conversion kit better be installin' itself...

I got mine from SUPER DUTY HEADQUARTERS. It looks like they are redoing their website so the linky I had for the DynaTrac kit doesn't work anymore.

I think you can also get it from DYNATRAC directly.

FWIW: I did some pics as I installed the Dynatrac kit, they are in my Webshots, link is below.

FWIW #2: I also had a running forum thread HERE if you want to read about how it went, as it happened. (The link in my first post doesn't work anymore for the reason I stated above.)
