Could I visually see the pedistal o ring while its still mounted on the truck or does it have to be removed to see?

You can't see the O ring(s). They are internal where the turbo is mounted on the pedistal. But if it Is the O rings.. you should be able to see, or feel where the oil is leaking. a good mirror and light would help.

There's lots of info in the SDD Search & DIY sections ?

With that, it sounds like an O-Ring issue. I had an O-Ring problem on my 6.0, not an oil O-Ring, but an O-Ring in the cooling system. It was on the supply to the EGR Cooler, but when the engine was warm (or if I kept the block heater plugged in) it would not leak. It the engine and coolant cooled down, the O-Ring would leak. So just like you, I could look for a coolant leak while it was running, no leak. But come back out the next morning there was coolant under the truck.

Not sure if you can see the pedestal on a 7.3 with it on the truck, but I don't think I can see the pedestal on my 6.0 turbo....
