trailer brake controller.

I did not take my owners manual with us on this trip, and right now the trailer brake controler is set at 6.0 ,,, Is this about right for 30 foot 5th wheel? It seems that the trailer is doing a lot of the work. I would like to put more bias on the truck, but do not know whether to go up or down.

i run mine at 6-7 and we are 14k loaded out on the rv. 24k gross

if your rig is pulling you some try backing off a degree or to.
i run mine so i can feel it take the intial slack and sort of work in unison with the truck

I always thought you wanted the trailer to have a little more
brake. Personally i LIKE the trailer to slow me down a bit
when i apply the brakes...Id always figured it was better to
have the trailer PULLING me than running up ON me when i slowed.

if the trailer comes on too slow, or too light, its like pushing a rope!

of course, if its doing all of the work, you could definatly stand to lighten it a touch.

Your trucks brakes are made to stop the truck and whatever it is towing, within reason. The trailer brakes are not made to stop your truck. Like Bush says the trailer brakes should slow you down a bit.

Its a fine line...between the trailer slowing the truck & the trailer locking
its wheels...im sure maxtor is just looking to improve the balance...
