Is there anything I need to do with the diesel fuel for storage on the diesel for a 5 month down time? I have put stabil gas additive in all my gas vehicles, but do not know if it is needed in the diesel. I need to know by Tuesday, because the operate on me Wednesday. By January just when I am better from the first surgery, then they will do a second one that will keep me down until around March. Thanks for any information.
P.S. I received the California Car Cover and it fits perfectly. Very nice construction, and it is covering the truck now. To get the truck into the garage, I purchased 17" stock wheels (without tires) and drove it over plywood and into the garage with about 1.5 inchs to spare. I did not have to remove the garage door. I am purchasing some 205/40/r17 (23.9") used tires to put on the new wheels to drive it out when I get over the surgeries. I will need to remove the garage door for clearance. My truck came with 18" wheels and 275/70/r18 tires.
Thanks for any input.

I just put mine away also. I am having surgey on Dec 1. I just filled my tank all the way to the top. as far as wheels go i would not waste your time on them. Just roll it out on the plywood and reinstall the factory tires.

diesel storage.

After doing some research, I found that fresh diesel that is kept dry and out of the sunlight is good for about a year. It is not as susceptible to degrading as is gasoline.
Good luck on your surgery. It is not something we look forward to. Hopefully we will be better off afterwards.

I might purchase the four wheel dollies that fit under the wheels so I can push the vehicle around in the garage. My garage is 24x48 so I had to maneuver my truck around inside the garage which was a pain with the plywood.

Good luck to you both.

Biocides are recommended for diesel for longer storage. It is hard to believe but bugs will grow in diesel and foul it up over a period of time. The length of time depends on initial fuel quality, moisture level and temperature.

Here's what I'd look into:
http://www.powerservice.com/biokleen_df_biocide.asp
http://www.mwfi.com/Fuel-Additives/Bionical.html
http://www.morison.com.au/de-bug.htm (in Australia...)

That said, my old bobcat sits around with some pretty foul diesel in the tank and I just use some stabil and a cetane booster. Oh, and wait for warm weather!!!
