hard to start when hot

over the last week or so my early 99 has been hard to start when it is hot. yes i let the glow plugs heat up and all that. any ideas on where to start checking. once she is running she runs great and sounds great. i was thinkin of putting a new glow plug relay but it seems to start fine when cold. thanks

You may just need an oil change ,, if not ,,,IPR o rings or maybe an injector o ring or two....

At no start , get a scanner on it to read ICP & IPRDC % ....

You need a scanner capable of reading data streams such as AE ,..I have a snap on 2500..

If you have a marginally bad or worn o ring it the injection system, warm ,thinner oil can get past it easier than cold thick oil. This causes a HP oil leak in the system that will show up on a scan as low ICP & a higher IPR duty cycle %.. The scanner will tell %, but beyond guessing at the IPR or injectors . you will need a guage set up to pinpoint the problem..

IPR o rings are a cheap & easy test...Once that is done the guage can isolate the problem with injectors..

The are alot of things it could be ( starter batteries oil areation fuel system, ect.), but start with the cheapest tests & go from there ....
