Try turning on the igntion but DON"T crank it, just let the fuel pump run till it shuts off, then turn truck off, and repeat about 10 times, then try to start it.
You have to purge the air out of the fuel lines, and this will sometimes get enough out to get the truck started, but if you ran it completely dry till the engine died from lack of fuel, I don't know if this will work or not, but it's worth a shot.
If this does start it, immediatley get the engine up to around 1200 RPM, this will help it to stay running if there is any additional air in the lines, 2-3 minutes at this high idle should suffice.
I'm sure others that know far more than myself will chime in and comment shortly

Assuming you got the wires hooked up correctly and the pump is turning the proper direction then................

Cycling the key on(dont start) for 30 seconds and off.......on again and so on for 7-8 times should purge the air.

If it doesn't give it a little help. Either crack the filter bowl lid open a little or open the drain valve to help move the air.

Your system has a big bubble it is trying to move from tank.......through the pump through the fuel bowl and back to the tank.............

You also have air in the comman rail that is going to have to be pushed through the injectors.

I have known of one case where the suction hose to the pump had to be disconnected and dropped into a jug of diesel to help prime the new pump.

No pump in the tank............its on the frame rail under the drivers seat.

there is also one in the tank.its a low pressure pusher.only reason for him to run it out of fuel would be to drop the tank.if that is the case he replaced the wrong pump

i ran my truck out because my fuel pump went out.

Are you sure the fuel pump was the problem? If it still wont start after cycling the pump for a while then your problem may be a little deeper.

Since when? I have never heard such a thing. All I have ever heard about the newer Superduty's is that there is a electric pump inside the frame rail. There are many guys that have modified the pickup tubes in the tank and I have never heard mention of a low pressure pump in the tank..

There is no in-tank pump on the SD trucks. Is the pump running. You should be able to hear when you turn the key on. If not, check the fuse.
