I have a new 07 550 4x4 12' flatbed, real happy with mpg but always want more. Best I can figure it will take close to 100,000 miles to pay for it self. I'm not a hot rodder, don't care about exhaust sound. Just need to pull 14000# trailer. Any idea how many mpg's I can get with Banks? I was quoted $3600.00 for six gun and technicooler. Seem like a lot of$$$$$

I've read alot of positive feedback from 6.0L owners with the SCT programmer,Magnaflow & MBRP Exhaust systems and AFE air filters.
Any combination of those three will save you some $$$:sweet

Most importantly do invest in gauges so you can properly monitor important functions like Exhaust Gas Temperatures,Transmission Fluid Temps and Boost Pressure.
I wouldn't change out the 6.0L intercooler as it's one of the best out there stock wise.

Bama(Ex Six Gun owner) and other 6.0 owners will chime in as they have hands on experience with getting the most out of their trucks:cool:

Sounds like that price is for the complete bundle (6gun, intercooler, bigger boost tubes, high ram air intake, monster exhaust, and air intake filter kit)

i purchased the same over 2 years ago with the dual exhaust. I am very happy with everything but the 6gun tuner itself. I eventually unhooked the 6gun and bought an SCT with custom tunes.

The SCT is a very good product and it can do so much more than the 6gun ever thought of doing.

Check out discountpowerparts about a custom tuned SCT for you today. :thumbs

I can't comment on the banks stuff since I've never run it. However, running the High-Power tune from Elite I get 23.5 mpg empty. Towing around 8k or so with the tow-power file, I usually get around 17-18. My clutch was slipping to bad to run the Insanity file for any length of time or to tow with the high-power tune. But that got fixed Tuesday. :sly

Basically I wouldn't bank on getting a MPG increase with a tuner. Some do, some don't. ;)
IMO, Banks stuff (although nice) is kinda overpriced.
I'd go with a custom SCT, 4" MBRP exhaust and gauges.
Do NOT put an intake kit on the 6.0L, the stock one is far better than most think.
Your 550 should pull 14K like nothing. Sure a tuner will make it take off better, but 14K is less than a half load for a 550...

true RoyBoy, and he knows about "totin' da mail". I put 4" turbo back exhaust on mine and run a stock intake and get around 17. Towing a car(4500lbs) I get about 15.5 without a tuner. When I get the $$$ I will go with a SCT for mine.
