That's pretty much what I was thinking of doing. I have an old mirror I was going to practice on.

I re-did the mirrors last night with standard rainx - I couldn't get to the parts store for the anti fog - and it actually worked pretty good this morning.

:dunno Something I Do: In addition to the coating of Rain-X, I bought a bottle of Rain-X, >Window Cleaner<.. use it exclusively on my windows & mirrors (House Too). Maintains the Rain-X effect. No water Spots either.

I think I'll use up the bottle I have and see what happens but I'd still like to see how Roan65 did his mirrors

I have tried to find it but when searching the archives at TDS all I get is errors. You can give it a shot but I can't get it to work. I am thinking that the post would have been made between 2000 and 2002 in the 94-97 forum. roan65 would have been the user-name. All I get is "ht://Dig error, Unable to read configuration file". Lester has lost so much good information with his crappy archives :rant

No problem. I have a left over mirror I can pull apart just to see how tough it is. I don't think the elements are that expensive so maybe I'll just mess with it a little myself. The biggest deal will be going through the door  That scares me a bit...

You know I think he may have had the little black mirrors rather than the towing mirrors. With the little mirrors I think you could go through the door where it could not be seen.

during the colder months I keep a blow-torch in the back seat of my truck, it works real well for heating up the mirrors and anything else that is frozen. you have to be careful not to melt things but it is way easier than running wires.

If you can find the heating elements. I've been searching the web for two years to no avail.
