2000 E350 van, 200K miles

Can I send injectors out for rebuild or who is good to buy new injectors from.

This is a 1 ton work van but is chipped. Has plenty of hp & torque, if there are injectors designed for fuel economy, that would be preferred.

Stealership wants mid 300's per injector.

Ebay has rebuilt ones for something like $150 each. You can have a local injector service rebuild them. Don't know about "economy" injectors...

you can't have it both ways!

aside from the DP 80hp econo tune, if you want performance, you get it at the cost of fuel economy.

if you want economy, you give up performance.

injectors- did you try Huckstorf or Kennedy?

Take a look at Bean's Diesel Performance. He can set you up with injectors ranging from mild to wild, new or remans.

He can also set you up with single shot injectors that can get you slightly more power & economy. Single shots will require different PCM tuning to run right. You can get reman'd single shots for a lot less than splits. Enough of a savings to more than pay for the required tuning.

Single shots will run better without causing HPOP low pressure problems like higher output split shots can.

Stay away from the economy or ebay injectors. Brother put in $99 remans from a place in florida (I'll withhold the name) they also sell them on ebay. One injector arrived with a cracked tip and after a few months he pulled them because the truck ran much worse than it did with 200k mile injectors, and put in new alliant powers. Night and day difference. Other shops have said the same- stay away from remans!

I can fully understand the above stated concerns.

FWIW: Bean's flow bench checks all reman'd injectors they build and offer a 180 day warranty.

I've done a lot of business with him, stock turbo rebuld kit, later on a D66 turbo, set of single shots injectors and a chip w/single shot tunes. I have never found him to be anything other than a stand-up guy.
I wouldn't recommend Beans if I had any so much as "iffy" experiences with him.

I agree that Beans is a stand up guy and offers good service.

Kennedy Diesel and Hucksdorf are both in the Milwaukee metro area, maybe 10-15 miles from West Bend.

Considering his problems needing the codes scanned and possibly injectors, he may be better off taking a little drive and visiting his local shop to get them rebuilt or buying new.

I have a couple years and a few thousand miles on my stage ones from Bean. Excellent customer service and great performance parts.

The cost for stage ones was the same as a stock rebuild or within spitting distance last time I checked.

Economy comes from the injector nozzle size, Bean and some other builders use stock nozzles on the stage 1 injector so you end up with the same fuel atomization and delivery rates so you aren't compromising your stock economy in the name of power, but should you want power they do have the ability to deliver more fuel than stock.

Injectors - How to test

Thanks everyone for the info.

He will call Hucksdorf on Monday for pricing, etc.

Question - regarding the testing, can they or do they test the injectors in the engine or do you need to remove and bench test? That van is a real pain to work on - not like a truck where you actually have a "hood".

Another question - is there any down side by running the way it is, meaning a lopey idle? How serious is it to fix or identify whick injector is going bad?

THanks

you NEED to get your hands on a proper scan tool for ford. with that you can isolate the injectors that are giving you fits and then decide what to do.

as far as should you leave it in or not, no don;t.
at one extreme, you can overfuel the cylinder and burn a hole in the piston.

they can check the injector on the flowbench, but for what purpose? all it will tell you is that it flows the right amount of fuel or not and how good the spray pattern is. ok, so pull all 8 and test each one, fine and dandy, now what?
