What do you mean, they also say Pttsburgh and Chicago on them.
Have you tried a craigslist search for the basic snap ons that you need, and the box, then you can purchase the more specialized tools as you go along.

Our local craigslists have lots of boxes going up, new ones every week. Lot of really pricey (4K+) ones, but a bunch of affordable stuff too. Name brand hand tools too, but not as often.
One thing I forgot to mention earlier about the Craftsman exchanges, I get mine replaced at Fastenal, I'm there every week anyways, and they are not too picky about it...

Fastenal is a Craftsman distributor, when I have a broken tool, I go there to replace it under warranty, not to Sears. Fastenal is kinda a strange outfit, their list prices are kinda high, but as a regular account I get a fairly decent price, not quite the cheapest, but they are in my town, they have most of what I need when I need it.
I can also add that all the Westward tools I have tried have been pretty good. I bought a few of them for one of our employees so I could tell between his and mine, but it impressed me, I'll probably buy some for myself someday.
Grainger is also a bit high on some things, others they are fairly cheap, if you are a Farm Bureau member its a 10% discount, free online shipping, etc. I get an even cheaper rate on quite a few things, and the online shipping is really great, I order stuff before 5 PM, UPS brings it to my door before lunch the next day, saves me MANY trips to town.

That might give me another source for Craftsman Tools. The local Sears store is owned by the biggest arsehole I've ever met that didn't work for my former employer. I won't shop there.

Now Im not that old, but I have been a J*w more times than I ever wold want to admit. I have bought all of the craftsman matco snap-on and even harbor freight. I have had to re-buy soo many tools and wasted yes money but more importantly the "job". I hate trying to fix, get, make, or test with crap. I live pay check to pay check but I know I KNOW every time I cheep out and go buy it at sears or anything that did not roll up to the shop I will not only be going back to the store to deal with the bs of returning something under "warranty" but most likely whatever I was working on I know it was not the best that I could have done. The last box I bought was a economy box from sears and I hated it from day one. Matco has a great payment plan. Sears has a credit card. Also sears will be out of business here soon in our great economy then where is your warranty?Scooter

I had a friend that was a mechanic, and he only bought the best tools he could find, Snap On Mac Matco, etc. His box was always a junk Sears box that he would lock every night. One time he was working in a shop, and they shop got robbed and cleaned out of all the tools. Well, except for his. The cops hauled him in, and questioned him, asking why his box wasn't stolen. His only explanantion was, "All the other boxes were brand new Snap on Boxes, and I have this old piece of junk. Which one would you steal?" They ended up catching the guy, but most of the mechanics tools had been snorted by then.

look around on Craigslist and ebay and you will likely be able to find a snap on tool box loaded with tools for less 25-50% retail, I'm talking good snap-on, mac, matco grade tools just the mechanic is retiring or someone has passed away and none of their kids turn wrenches or have already built their own tool collection.
When buying a box go ahead and buy at least a 48" box, if you're in a shop and having to actually use the wheels on your toolbox it sucks when they are tall and narrow like the "decent" one you showed from lowes. On the same idea of rolling the toolbox around get ones with a latch on each drawer not one that requires you to put a key in to latch all of the drawers. For security make sure you get one with a key and for ease and convenience of locking get one where the entire locking mechanism is integrated not requiring you to put bars in front of the drawers to secure them.
Here's a reasonable deal
