cold start hesitation

When I start the truck and pull away without a warm up it sounds like the truck is hesitating but its not. It also makes a weird grinding noise maybe i cant explain it. Once its warmed up goes away. Any idea.

Let it warm up for a few minutes. Diesels don't like to be driven cold.

What Dave said. It's a Diesel.

Head (Combustion) temps aren't high enough yet to make good power.

Fan clutch is engaged.. (as it should be) making a wrrrring sound (?)

sounds like your warm up valve on your turbo is on. goes away when you give it more throttle
