Well, I think it may be dead. Was driving on highway, 70mph, truck sounded like it was revving to high. It was at 2200rpm. Then it shifted hard and was below the 2000rpm but the light on the shift stock was blinking. Went to the mall and left without any problems. A mile up the road though, the truck no longer went forward with the throttle pedal. No blinking light. Turned the truck off and back on and was able to get another mile up the road. Off and on again and was able to make the highway. Felt like I was in third the whole way home. 60mph and 18-1900rpm. Truck just felt like it was struggling. As long as I did not stop, she kept moving. But once I was at a stop light. No go. Off and on again then back home. When the truck was in reverse for about 30ft, she was bouncing slightly the whole time in reverse. Trans temp was about 185* upon parking truck.

Sorry for the long story, but I figured as much history helps in diagnosis.

Is it the complete trans or possibly just the torque converter?

For trans I would love to get a Brian's, but I can't swing the cost right now. Is there anything above stock for a bit more than stock price? If I go stock, anyone have a great price?

If converter, what should I upgrade to over the stock one?

Thanks for the help and listening.

shoot it.
It's done.
How long can you down the truck for?
pull your core and send it to BTS, Racer-X, John Woods, etc..

mileage wise you did pretty good.. mine gakked at about 140k

With that sort of miles on a tranny, it's dead. In fact, it's lived longer than many stock 4R100 transmissions.

Contact Brian's Truck Shop. Their reputation, work, product and warranty are the best around.

Thanks for the replies. I will be calling Brain soon. Now with the new trans it is finally time for a chip.
