After all of this are you thinking about opening a shop at your home or working at a dealers shop?

Working on doing my own thing. Look hard at being a mobile. I really do not want to be stuck in a shop. I still have a few thing to take care of, like getting Ins. have to have 2mil. in that. I'm working on the lic. for LP. Have a test coming up nice thing is it's open book. Still trying to work on a name. That's the hardest part. Don't want to have mobile in it too. But I will be working on 5th wheels, travel trailers and coaches. Kick back some company name's.
What I have been doing is getting on Google and searching rv repair that come to you, trying not to use mobile in it. When I use mobile you end up with phones.

Sounds like you have the right idea. Easy way to compete with the big guys is offer services they can't or won't. Biggest thing though (I'm sure you know this) is CUSTOMER SERVICE! Make people happy, they come back. Doesn't usually matter how much you charge either. The people that whine about your rate are usually the ones you don't want.

I agree on the getting bored in the shop part. That's why I do both. But I'm in a little colder climate. :lmao

For names maybe along the lines of "On site" or "on the spot". One thing I have discovered in 10 years of business, is more people know me by my first and last name than the business name. I have a 0 advertising budget though, all word of mouth. I think I advertised the first year or less and had more than enough since. My best clients are the ones I personally called on. Our lines of work are different, probably quite a few similarities though.

RV Doctor is a name a man I met in south TX. used, he was from Washington state and he did mobile work while he was in south TX for the winter mo. He would put a ad in the Winter Texas newspaper and he worked all the time. He told me that he got feed up with what he was doing and went to FL. to a RV repair school and was real happy that he had made the switch. Good luck, finding the Ins you will need and always pay your taxes.

6000.00 for school and about a 1000 in tools.

Talked to a full-timer guy this past weekend at the Coast.. he went thru the schooling.. got certified & registered.. does his own fixes and makes a few bucks as they travel, doing repairs on Rigs... at RV parks they visit. Doesn't advertise.. just sees or hears of someone with a problem ?
