Three meters, from $50 to $250 can't pull a code from my truck even though the check engine light is on. I'm wondering if being a 97 it isn't fully OBDII compliant. One of the meters says there are 124 codes to pull but doesn't pull a single one.
Does anyone else have a 97 that they can pull...
My Pedal Position Sensor PPS, that is attached to the foot throttle assembly, works for 3-4 months then needs to be replaced. I have to replace it when the truck jerks alot, like it gives it fuel, then stops, then starts giving it fuel again. The fact that it wears a PPS out in 4 months makes me...
Hmmm. I run Rotella 15W40 (certainly thicker), and it is at 3500 miles. I change it every 5000. Since cold weather would make it thicker, I would think I would have this problem every time it gets cold, but I don't.
I have thought like you did, that this problem sounds like the fuel or...
WHEN IT HAPPENS: sometimes in cold weather, but many times in cold weather it does not happen. It just seems to happen when it wants to, not because of any set of confitions.
WHAT HAPPENS: The truck will start and run kind of rough, like it is missing 2 cylinders, or very rough, like it is...
Not sure if "Private" means "anyone" can't post here, but I'll give it a try.
The dealer wants $73 for the 6" ICP wire connector (3 wires and the connector with clasp) that terminates at the ICP and I find it on line for $78!
SUPER DUTY ICP CONNECTOR 97 03 7.3L DIESELand it says Huge...
I thunk of dielectric grease, but didn't put any in. There is no hole into the unit that is visible, but 100 PSI air does make it in. I'm sure better electrical contact would help, but grease that would collect dust might cause other problems. Life is one decision after another.
I have...
Thanks for the input guys.
The advice in this thread Oilburners.net says that this can also be caused by dirt or dust. I pulled the Pedal Position Sensor (PPS) off the truck and blew it out with an air hose. It worked like new, for a week, and is now beginning the same symptoms again...
Six months ago I was having to push my pedal down further than I had to prevoiusly to get the RPMs to increase. Then when I was pushing the pedal a little bit the engine would jump up and down in RPMs as if was quickly stomping on and letting of the pedal, but if I pressed it down more to...
The oil in the crankcase makes its way up to the HPOP reservoir and is used there to fire off the injectors. So when you change your oil you are refreshing that "Top End Oil" too. However, I have also heard that that is more theory than what actually happens. If the later is true, the "Top End...
In the past 3 months I have put 2 complete clutch kits with the Kevlar pilot bushing and SM flywheels (replaced the original DM) from South Bend. The first job gave me huge vibrations, the second one leaves me with only bad vibrations mostly at 2400 - 2800 RPM. I just dropped my truck off at...
Got my axel out, now I need to replace the seal...
Thanks! My axle is out. Greatly appreciate your help.
My son found that my manual does not match my truck. Little bit of a story behind that... No wonder my manual was missing steps!
I can see the outer seal on the end of the axle...
I am trying to remove the rear axelshaft so I can replace the oil seal on the driver's side. I am following the instructions from in my
97 - 2003 Haynes Ford Pickups and Expedition manual but my differential must be different because the instructions don't get me there.
Here is what I...

I pulled codes on my truck and got the following:
-FAILED P0122 A circut low input

Ford says I need a new Pedal Position Sensor - the thing you put your right foot on and the stuff that is connected to it - $441 - dealer only part!
