I should add that the electric shift motor was removed a number of years ago because it stuck in low range and the transfer case was shifted manually to the 2 high position.
I am having trouble getting my electric shift to work. It doesn't do anything when I try to engage the shift switch. I have tested the motor and it works fine when power is put to it, so that is not the problem. I need to know what to look for, or at, to solve this problem.
JLDickmon, yes my ESOF is malfunctioning, and as with Rudolphvan's ESOF mine works on the bench as well. So what do I need to do to figure out why I'm not getting power to the motor?
ok now we are getting somewhere, thanks for the info guys, this is what I wanted (well didn't want to...lol) to know.
Now my next question, since it looks like a manual shifter is out of the question unless I change the transfer case, can the ESOF motor be wired to run off the switch and...
maybe I should tell what I have as this past weekend I found out that Ford put many different transfer cases in these trucks. I have a 2000 crew cab, long box with a 7.3L diesel and the six speed (what I would call a 4 speed with low and OD) transmission.
well my electric shaft case comes out the side. It has the squared off shaft coming out that would accept a shift lever, but has no hole in the end to accept a bolt and washer to keep the lever from coming off.
I looked a little closer today and found that it looks like you could put a linkage lever on the shaft coming out of the side of the transfer case, but unlike the old 4 speed transmissions of the 70's and 80's, there is no hole in the center of the shaft to put a bolt and washer into to hold the...
I was wondering if you can put a manual 4WD shifter on a transfer case that originally had an electric shift set up on it? If so, where is the best place to get the necessary parts to do so?
