I have '02 7.3L and it has recently developed a new noise that I can't figure out. When accelerating and the truck shifts into 3rd and 4th there is a loud swoosh sound after the truck shifts, its sound to be coming from somewhere ontop of the motor, it almost sounds like air being pushed out of...
The previous owner had a similiar problem I am having(wouldn't start) and he had the injectors, ICP, and some other stuff replaced trying to fix it and he said it ended up being the sending unit stopped up...I found receipts from the company he ordered the injectors from and the shop that did...
I noticed the pump has a label on it saying its a pressurized system, is there any certain way I need to remove the fuel line or any certain precaution I need to take?
If it sucks fuel out of a jug I guess that tells me its the pump bad?
No smoke when cranking, tac is showing rpm's
Anyone know where the oil should be at on the dipstick when cold?.....Since it won't start I can't check it warm and don't really know what it would measure at cold?
Something else I should mention, With the fuel bowl open there is no fuel being pumped in...if it lost prime would it not pump at all or would it just have air bubbles in it? I can hear the pump buzzing at the tank when key is truned over, but its not making it to the bowl.
Aight got a chance to mess with the truck today....I was wrong it will start and run on ether(I know I know, its bad but I had to start somewhere), so its definitely a fuel problem. I drained the bowl and put a new filter in and tried the shop vac thing(actually I used a leaf blower) and still...
Is there a drain plug for the fuel filter on the frame rail? I know on my 6.0L there is plug on the side of the filter housing that is on the frame rail...does the 7.3L have a drain or do I have to loosen the fuel filter/lines? I only put 1 gallon in it cuz I knew it wasn't low enough for that...
