I don't think it was showing a code. The mechanic had to check the voltage coming from the ficm. This is one of the common problems with the 6.0 and it is most likely gonna be the issue. You can google or you tube how to do it. It is not very complicated to check if u have a little mechanical...
Mine ended up being the fuel injection control module (ficm) not putting out enough volts to fire the injectors. My injectors also needed a good cleaning. After the ficm was replaced and injectors cleaned I was rockin and rolling.
Ok, here is a little follow up after the symptoms are still present. I took the truck to my mechanic (who is a powerstroke tech) this morning after another round of hard/no starts. He found the FICM is bad and several injectors are toast. I am now waiting on an adjuster from the company I...
I did not try it just because I had no problems with the 15W40 Rotella at all prior to switching to the Mobil Delvac. If this does not cause the romps to go away, I will go down to the 5W40 and be done with it. At least the engine started this morning. LOL

Well here is a little follow up. I went back with what was working to begin with, Rotella 15W40. My truck started right up this morning but was kicking and sputtering for about 10 seconds until it leveld off an ran smooth. I figure it will take a couple of days for the injectors to loosen up...
Ok I need a little help.... I have a 05' 6.0 w/ 54,000 miles on it. I just did my first oil change since I have had the truck. I was running Rotella 15W40 with a wix filter and went to a Goodrich filter with Mobil Delvac 15W40, since this is what we use in our trucks at work. I had no issues...
I noticed that I am getting a little oil blow by that is centralized around the EGR valve. There is an intake that goes into the top of the engine right in front of the EGR valve that has a black rubber hose with hose clamp going to the intake. The last time I had this issue, it was the clamp...
Ok a short follow up.... The engine light was the engine oil cooler biting the dust on me. I took my truck to an independent powerstroke mechanic and he replaced the factory cooler with an upgraded oil cooler. I was also talked into dropping the extra cash to upgrade the EGR cooler to an...
Thanks for the info Willie "d".. As far as I know no tuner before I bought the truck, but not for sure. I have no tuner on it now and have no plans for one. I am learning as I go. I plan on having a long cha with a powerstroke tech Monday to see what needs to be done to get this thing...
Ok,
I just got my '05 6.0 back from the dealership 2 days ago. They rebuilt the turbo, replaced the EGR cooler hose and a few other misc. things. So I decide to air it out and take a last minute 80 mile trip down IH10 to Houston today. Less than 20 miles into the trip, the darn check...
Jherman, Thanks for the reply and info. Everything is now on hold due to another issue that reared its ugly head again today. I was sitting at a stop light and went to take off and no throttle response at all. The truck would barely idle me through the intersection. I pulled to the side of...
I had the truck checked by a certified 6.0 tech today and he found two codes coming up..P0299 (low turbo boost) and P0404 (EGR performance). He thinks the turbo boost might be related to a bad sensor in the turbo that controls the blades or it might just be dirty, the EGR problem is the usual...
