I hate to dig up an old thread, but I've got the same problem. Can't be hub or transfer case on mine- its 2WD. I hear it from the passengers side. I checked that my lugnuts are tight and checked the tightness of several suspension parts. Did you ever find out what it was?
OK. Thank you for the help. I'm beginning to wonder if it was a new clutch/fly wheel and it just got broken in, and I got carried away. I definitely have to replace the clutch fork though because I think that what made it seem worse than it is. Again thanks.
I was told that a dual mass flywheel had two parts, and if you could move the two parts past each other more than 5/8" then the flywheel is bad. I couldn't move anything, so that counts out a bad flywheel.
After being told by other people in another forum to look under the inspection cover, I saw this-
It looks to me to be new. I wasn't able to move anything, so I am guessing it has already been converted to SMF. I wasn't drenched with oil and neither were the parts, so no rear main leak. Can...
I second that. I usually drive 70-75 mph, which is more than 2-5 mph over and less than 100. I have been over 90 though before. One odd thing I notice is the faster I go the more steady and solid the truck gets.:whah
No odd noises. I am sure I have a notched clutch fork but that was there already. Also has a slight vibration at idle after running on the freeway, but again has always been there and has actually lessened since I changed the oil and air filter.
Well up until now my clutch had been working fine. But as I entered Las Vegas on a trip from SoCal, I noticed my clutch was acting differently. It doesn't engage until higher up on the pedal travel. The bottom inch or so of pedal travel does nothing. Once engaged it still operates fine with no...
I agree with all of you, and it's nice to hear from some people with a reasonable opinion. I don't have anything to hide- I don't really give a da** if the government listens to my phone calls. But to those to oppose this I ask, what are you hiding? Because if you weren't hiding anything you...
Thanks for the welcome guys! I'm sure it is the fan now, because this morning when I drove it it did not come on at all until later. Thanks again!
EDIT: Here are some pics!
Notice the rear bumper. Have you guys seen anything like it? Salesman says it was a custom job. Also it has a brake...
That might be it. It seems like it comes on at low engine rpms when you can't really hear it and stays until running at high rpms for a little while. I haven't seen the temp gauge go past maybe one fifth of the normal range, even in yesterday's 100 degree heat.
The truck is a dually, 2WD. I'll...
Yes, another newbie question...
My name is Josh, and I am the proud new owner of a 1996 Ford F350 XLT Reg. Cab PSD with the 5 speed manual transmission. Around 157.5 k miles but maintained in very good condition. I have a question- in fifth on the highway around 60-65 at around 2k rpm the...
