Got the truck back this a. m. with a new ICP Sensor. Runs perfectly hot or cold but an expensive lesson. I had no idea where else to look. App. 1/2 of a boat dollar but it works. Thanks to all.:sweet

Faulty PCM ??
After a lot of checking the mechanic told me the communication is lost after the truck warms up, causing it to stall. When the truck cools down he can get readings with the scanner. I don't know enough to ask about the readings but has anyone seen or heard of this failure mode on...
I took the truck to these guys yesterday:
Griffis Automotive Clinic - Automotive Repair and Service in Groveland, Florida
He said he had another one in the bay with the same symptoms and in the past it has bad injectors. I'll post the results as well as the pain when I find out. Thanks for...
:rant
And the saga continues. Replaced the CPS this A.M. with the new grey one and took her for a spin. Got her up to temp on the highway and stopped to fill the tanks, did not stop running at idle. After 10 or 12 minutes attempted to start the truck, SOS.
The only thing I can do at this...
Fuel Pressure Screen
I forgot to list that procedure. I used several q-tip sticks and WD 40 to clean the screen from inside the bowl. I kept at it until a q-tip came out spotless. I think the screen is clean. I hope all of this works and it isn't injector o-rings as I think that process may be...
IPR rebuilt
Thanks guys for the advice on the IPR, I didn't have a clue about it. Found Viton O-Rings at NAPA, (no body had the kit in stock) and the unit has been removed, cleaned, replaced the rings and cleaned the connector.
Used die-eletric grease on the connector body to try to inhibit...
Having a problem and I can't find the solution. My 97 DRW 7.3 Turbo, 5 spd. manual, starts fine, runs well for 30 minutes or so on highway and the stops when dropping to idle for a stop. Will crank very quickly, tach is responding but will not fire. Have fuel in the filter bowl, filter is new...
You are right on the GCVW. Cat scales had the rig at 24,607# before I filled the boat with gas. The truck only has 60,000 mile; just finished gauges, chip, 4" exhaust with 3" downtube and a DIY Fleetwood filter. Power isn't an issue, she runs like a scalded dog if you put your foot in it (sans...
My 97 Superduty is DRW 2 wheel drive, with a 5 speed manual tranny and 5.13 rear end.
Have not weighed the tongue weght but estimate 1,100 # +/-. There have been a few ramps where the wheels would try to spin in granny with only idle RPMS. The other wheel would grab and so far, we have not had...
I don't know which rear end is on it and it is parked in the RV lot, not readily accessible. My fear with a taller ring gear would be pulling it up the ramps as I don't have 4 wheel drive and the boat is really heavy. This would require a locker or some type of limited slip which together would...
We have about 3,000 miles pulling a 16,000+# boat and trailer and the last trip I was able to get a decent estimate of 7 MPG.
This truck has the 5.13 rear end and a 5 speed manual tranny and the RPMS are close to 2500 at 57 MPH which I chose as a normal cruising speed.
My question is ...
Side tank
:)I dropped the tank with a transmission jack with the lines attached. Disconnects must be frozen. Repairs made and truck is on the road again. Thanks.
This has to fall under the 'Dumb a**' category. I was drilling a hole in the frame on the drivers side and popped a hole in one of the fuel lines. Needless to say there is fuel going everywhere and I can't get the lines loose from the sidriver's side tankl where the lines are hidden behind...
Finaaly got it running!!
:innocent:)Thanks for the suggestions. After checking all of the connectors, fuses, termination points, etc. I pulled the parking brake assemby and found the edge connector of the chip was about 1/2 pulled loose ( I'm guessing from my awkward attempts at removing dash)...
