I went with a Yukon set of 4.56 ring-pinion, with a Timken complete master bearing install kit. I did a lot of research on which bearings were good and finally made my mind. Paid a little over $500 for all the parts.
I'll follow up with my opinion of them after the install
Looking around the market for a new ring/pinion set for my Sterling 10.25. What are the leading brands?
I mainly just need a trusted brand so i know i'm not buying a junk copy.
Any input/ideas/links appreciated.

My horns are hard-wired to my truck's horn fuse because i didn't want to have to flip a switch for them to work. I assume I'll have to set up a seperate switch for the ARB once I get it installed?
THANKS for all the info fellas! Next question:
If I decide to go with an ARB air locker, how big of an air compressor do i need? Reason I ask is because I already have an air compressor for my train horns, mounted on the passenger side custom rocker panel. You can see it in my pics. I'm...
Would a full-time open diff (when the locker isn't engaged) help my mileage at all?? just curious. money will be the deciding factor (as always) but I'm pretty convinced i want this
i think i decided on the ARB air locker :) mainly due to its selectability. From wat i've read about them, they are more prone to fail than the Detroits becuase they have more parts...but in all fairness, I also read that the usual cause of failure in ARB air lockers is traced back to the...
Just found this. It says for "maximum traction off-road or racing."
DETROIT LOCKER-FORD Sterling 10.25 10.50 225SL-56A
I don't understand it. Does it just engage on its own..when it wants? I imagine turning would be hell. And that i'd stress out my axle and tires way too much if driven on...
blew my rear end today. scared the $hi* outta me, truck stalled out mid-intersection, nearly got hit by a moving truck.
It currently has the Sterling 10.25 rear end with limited slip. That's a pretty good rear so I'm thinking of just rebuilding it.
I need to know: what spline is it? 35...
maybe your rear end is going out? Check it out under your diff cover. If not that, 1st or 2nd gears could be taking a crap on you. I've had both happen recently (both within 9 months...damm the luck, right?!) and both had serious vibration/shaking issues like it was killing itself.
just my...
I'll try to describe this as best I can.
I was wondering if someone could provide me info pertaining to the hardware on the solid front axle (basically describe the hardware from the outboard of the wheel to the inboard) of the 99 s-duty 4x4.
Basically break it down for from the outside...
Pass this around to your PowerStroke buddies. I had a buddy tell me about it but I was skeptical, so I YouTube'd it, and sure enough there was an instructional video submitted by POWERSTROKEHELP. He has a lot of great info. The video on YouTube is aimed at ensuring the life of our injectors...
gotcha. next question:
i was told before that engaging hubs for 4 wheel drive in the front should NOT be done on hard surfaces like blacktop. I know people race in 4x4 HI, so did I hear a myth?
I'm not gunna hurt anything if i lock the hubs in and do some practice launches, am i??
THAT...
problem solved. Bought a ridiculously long ext cord and ran it from a 2 story barracks building to the parking lot where my truck is parked. Checked it after a couple hours, still no start.
Left it all night, started right up.
Gunna get another bottle of that 911 and do like ya'll said...
