    Question Steering Gear

Gear I think the difference in the splines are 32 on one and 36 0n the other. This is the number of splines on the out put shaft. The 2000 can have either one. The parts dealer will be able to direct you.

    Question Steering Gear

Have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while you check each tie rod end for play. Any play, you replace it. The ball joints should be checked also. If these things are OK then the next place to look hard at is the steering gear. You might be able to see the play in it. You can...

No chip. He put all heavy duty parts in it. I now have about 130 miles on it and I have to say it is better. If I ease off at about 35 but still accellerating it shifts soft. If I am going like trying to catch traffif on the super slab it is soft. It is just that inbetween thing accererating...

    Tranny Shift?

If the torque converter locks up above 40 then it must be the shift from 3rd to 4th as it has shifted hard below 40. I just pulled the speed sensor and it is clean. Could the torque converter be locking early?

    Question Steering Gear

Here is what I did. I loosened the lock nut while holding the adjusting screw with the allen wrench. I turned the screw in about 1/4 turn and tightned the locking nut while holding the adjusting screw. I then jacked the front end and with the engine running I checked for any roughness. All was...

Dave Ben and Tailgunner, I tried to ask another question and I may have screed it up so I will try again. First thanks for the git back. Now for my question; There seems to be a grey area as to how much the adjusting screw should be turned in. Is it possible to adjust all the slack out of the...

    Question Ball Joint

I got the job done. It wasn't bad at all. However about the torque I think the bottom has to be torqued first inorder to get the upper stud in position. Then tightnen the upper cinch bolt.
