Oil leak behind crank pulley or balancer?

Got it off...managed to fit a pipe wrench on the nut...worked great but definately not the recommended way...it is indeed a right hand thread. Thanks for the replies. Now on to fixing the actual leak.

Oil leak behind crank pulley or balancer?

I have a pretty good leak that is coming from somewhere behind the harmonic balancer or crankshaft pulley. I'm thinking it might be the front crankshaft seal or ? Has anybody changed one of these? I also have a really stubort fan clutch nut that refuses to turn (it is right hand thread...

    dually 4x4 milage

I have a 2002 4x4 dually with 122000 miles on it. I've had it for about five months and have never had better than 13mpg empty on the highway. I've towed a 9000lb. toyhauler a few times averaging around 65mph and this has gotten me 8.5 to 9 mpg. Does this sound like there is something wrong...

    Your Fuel Mileage

I am getting 10 to 11 mpg with stock 2002 Crew Cab dually 4x4, no engine mods and stock sized tires. Is there something wrong with my truck? Or is it just a heavy beast with low gears? This mpg is empty not pulling. while pulling it looks like 9-8 mpg.

    most power for the buck

Thanks for all the great info guys. I think that I will be piecing together package starting with gauges and intake exhaust, followed by a TS 4 or six position chip. It looks like I can do it all for around 1300 bucks. I'll keep all of you posted on the progress. Thanks again.

    putting the pieces together

I've been doing the research for some mods on my 2002 7.3 dually 4x4 with 122000 miles. After reading all of the great info/advice on this site, I've concluded that there are three to four main areas to address: exhaust, intake, tuning, and transmission, along with appropriate gauges. With a...

    most power for the buck

Thanks for all the info. What is your opinion of the banks big hoss bundle as a complete package? Or would I get a better value by individually piecing parts together from various companies. I've read that some chips/programmers mess with the truck computer and cause check engine lights, etc...

    most power for the buck

I'm new to the site and also new to diesel ownership. I purchased a 2002 f-350 dually 4x4 for pulling a toyhauler. It has 123000 miles on it, and from what I can tell, it is completely stock in the engine and drivetrain. Besides changing all important fluids I have not done any modifications...
