Something running after engine shut off

I have no idea. I am trying to research that while this question is on the forum to see what I can find as well as hear what others on here have to say. The moment I find something to substantiate this one way or the other I will post it.

    '04 6.0 - mileage

I almost made the same mistake with the intake. I am used to my gas engines and opening up the restrictive intakes. I have never once heard anyone tell me to open up the intake on my turbo diesel. Everyone says to leave it alone and do the exhaust so I will definitely let the experience guide...

    Block heater?

Awesome infomation! I have not found mine yet but i am sure it's there so i will look when I get home tonight since I drove the Jeep to work. I sure could have used it last weekend when the temps drop into the upper teens to lower 20's.

    Rough Cold Weather Start

I have 112,000 miles on my truck. Will it make a difference if I switch at this point? I have read and heard that switching this late in the game will cause seals to start leaking.

Something running after engine shut off

Thanks for the reply. I wondered about the turbo but it sure doesn't sound like a turbo spooling down. When the noise stops it stops all at once and there is a click like a relay switching. Unless it is something to cool the turbo down after engine shut down. Which could be the case I...

    Rough Cold Weather Start

Thanks Barrett. I have not done an oil change since I have owned it but I am getting close to doing so. I assume it has Rotella in it. It has a serice reminder sticker in the window so I am going to call them and see what kind of oil they use and if they have a service history on my truck.

Something running after engine shut off

When I shut my truck off there is something that sounds like a little electric pump or motor that keeps running in the engine compartment for about 30-45 seconds. I have no idea what it is and if it is normal or not. Anyone else's truck do this? I have never noticed it on any other diesel...

    Rough Cold Weather Start

Last weekend I stayed up at my buddies house for a weekend of fishing. The overnight low was in the low 20's. It was 22 when I tried to start my truck. I waited until the wait to start light went out (which too a bit longer of course) and started it up. It fired right up like it should but...

Front Suspension "Thumping Noise" when offroad

I have checked the ball joints and they seem to be well greased and solid. No play or slop. I didn't jack the truck up from the bumper so I really wasn't able to check the rubbers. Upon visual inspection I didn't notice anything but that doesn't say much. I wonder if the leafs would make...

Front Suspension "Thumping Noise" when offroad

Right on! Well I guess I will do the ball joint check tonight after work. If those are not obviously worn then I will do a bushing replacement and go from there. Hopefully that will cure the mysterious thump! I need new brakes anyway so I will just do it all at once. Thanks for the input...

Front Suspension "Thumping Noise" when offroad

It has 111,000 on it. I just purchased it a little over a month ago so I have no clue about prior maintenance or history but I do know from what I can see it was used as a ranch truck. I would rather not take it to a shop to diagnose but I don't really know how to tell since it only makes the...

Finally gave into the dark side and got a Ford and a Diesel

Hello all! :newhere Well, I have long been anti Ford. I was always a Chevy man growing up. Well things change and Chevy out priced themselves. I needed a diesel to pull my horse trailer through the mountains and over somewhat rugged terrain. After looking long and hard at Dodge, Ford...
