203* thermostat...???

....yall guys crack me up. No I dont grandpa it hardly ever. I hate jently accelerating and my engine being in high rpm's before it shifts. I like getting through the gears as fast and smoothly as I can.

Whether it helps on the MPGs or not I'm still sold on it. Added cab heat? Don't need it. What I do like is that the engine will always run warmer than the stock 195*. In my case I need the extra coolant heat for my VO system. Been using Bob's 203* since '02...four years before running VO. But they don't last for eight years. I'm on my third.

Im at a loss for how coolant temperature could have any impact on fuel efficiency. The guy stating he got several miles more per gallon is delusional. I have it in mine and won't go back for the simple reason that a diesel engine is designed to run better with heat. I have a water temperature gauge to watch mine and it stays at 190 - 193. If you need a thermostat, replace it with either one you want but don't expect a mileage change.

Diesel engines like to run hot, but water/coolant won't allow it to run much hotter than 203°F. If you could, it would run at 225°F or hotter.

I have been running the 203 t-stat for about 40,000 miles, and I haven't really noticed much difference. Maybe a little more cab heat. Not enough change in engine temp to see a difference on the factory temp gauge. But, I don't really tow, so the idea of a t-stat that is letting my engine warm up a few degrees more does appeal to me. I'm happy with it. Another suggestion, buy the billet t-stat housing Bob sells. The stamped steel factory ones never reseal and you end up buying a new one every time you take it off. Spend the money for the billet one and never have to replace it again.

i noticed my engine runs a touch smoother when its fully warm now with the 203, i have had it in for about 5,000 miles now. the cabin heat is much appreciated at times!

Me 3. Had the 203* in for over 100K. Wouldn't be without it. Simply runs better with it. NO big claims.. just runs better.

I have a "real" temp gauge, along with the OEM thing. I see temps change from about 195+ to 205, or so .. as loads are put on the engine.. The OEM thing doesn't move.. At All, Ever.

A Warm(er) internal combustion engine runs better Warm(er), IMO.

(The competitive motor sports guys run their engines Warmer... Hmmm, wasup with that ?)

Have not seen any benefits with this thermostat at all.

I have it and maybe is psychologica but seems to run better, and the OEM gauge went to the beginin of the O to the end of it, near to the R in the NORMAL gauge. I dont think any gain in MPG, and have not problems in overheating when towing.
