Bypass oil filters

Far as I know you can probably mount them sideways, but I'd call the manufacturer to be sure.

My bypass is mounted high up inside the frame right behind the trans cross member. Haven't seen any chips or dings on them yet so probably fairly safe from road debris. If I had 4wd I'd probably build a rock guard for it being mounted that far back under the truck.

I feel that it all depends on how many miles you run. It has been a year(yes 12 months)since I changed my oil and about 2500 miles in that year. For me a oil bypass system is not practical but I am not going to tell someone that runs 100,000 miles a year that they don't need one.

Another subject that usually gets me jumped on is the EBPV gutting subject. I try and let guys know that they are handy in cold weather but over there guys always say it is a piece of crap and there is no use for it. Last night when I got in it was -32, I ran my rpm up to 1300 and turned on the EBPV. In less than 10 minutes the truck was ready to roll with a warm cab. Without the EBPV I would have froze for 20 minutes. In Florida a guy will probably never find a need for a EBPV but up here they are nice.

What is good for one guy might not be good for another so we all need to keep an open mind.

this is my second oil guard system
first was the 7.3 it got oil chaged at 10 k after a few oil samples we settled on this time frame based on my driving.
the 6.0 is anybodies geuss. she is coming up on the 2nd change and the ALL filters will get it, then i will run a few samplse to see if we can extend beyond the 5k limit, hopefully once she is broken in we can go further.
However, i am at less than 300 miles from a schedule oil change and she is starting to get hard to start first thing in the morning regardless of temps and even with the block heater plugged in.

Mine has been mounted sideways for 2 1/2 years w/o a problem. It's mounted to the frame under driver's door.

Thats what im talking about. i diconnected myEBPV because of no power one morning trying to pull a trailer. reconnected thus winter to see if it helped to warm up but I cant tell any difference. but where you are i bet it helps. im NOT going to gut mine because im not up against the EGT wall and will NEVER be(besides cant see why a little disk will cause EGT to be high). but you use your and i dont but who cares.Its also like the tow haulinf forum if you dont spend $400 for a Brakesmart brake controller you are risking your families life or are a dumbass.

Thats why trucks come in different colors. Different strokes for different folkes.

also i agree with no need for a bypass with 2500 miles a year. i only run about 10000 miles a year and was NOT giving $200 to $400 for a bypass filter so me and another member "over there"came up with the DIY. i plan on keeping this truck like i did the other one for 15 years and 200000 of my own miles(thats 310000 on the last truck) and like the idea of MAYBE keeping wear down.

so now Crumm im not telling you need one like you wont tell me im a fool for using one.

mine hangs off the running board bracket on its side

damn deere--thats a lot better price than i got it for--did you put the .92 restriction in the line somewhere to slow the oil down--and howd you do it--also--the problem a tds is this--too many spastics over there think they know it all--and know nothing--just by reading their posts!!!!!!!!!!!

No sassyrel i used a .75 or .65 orfice or maybe it was a .92 cant find my notes right now. How? i taped the outlet for a set screw with the orfice size drilled in it.

Its not that they know everything(there are some GOOD members over there) but their way is the ONLY way.
