    Turbo back exhaust benefits

I know that my 03 with the stock exhaust whisles louder than some of the newer trucks with a modified exhaust. It is really nice when I have the rear wing windoes open and a hard surface beside the truck......

    Question Black Smoke??

All I see in the "grocery getter" senario is a light hase, it is hard to see in the day, it is just a puff at first, at night I see the hase in the lights behind me, and it only does is once or twice. In the idle senario, it is just on startup and not heavy at all, I think it is a dirty EGR...

    Question Black Smoke??

Has the EGR Valve ever been serviced? It may be sticking. How old are the fuel filters? How is the truck normally driven? I know these may sound like odd questions, but I have noticed with mine, that when the fuel filters get near the 10k mile mark, I see a difference in performance and...

    Show off your Excursion/s here!

Thanks guys. It is 100% stock except the FUMOTO Drain Valve and the XM Radio (Roady / MyFI) We love the truck!!!!!! I actually brought it home during the test drive to make sure it would fit. I knew that I would have this truck for a long time and want to make sure I can keep it inside.

    Slow Fuel Gauge Response

My 03 is the other way around. If I shut the truck off while I am filling the tank, it takes several miles of driving for the needle to come up and register the new fuel. If I leave it run, I can watch it fill......

Question New to diesels and just wondering about starting

Your welcome. You will be surprised the difference when you get it back. A band-aid I found was the plug in the block heater (If you have the cord, on the 05 and newer you have to BUY the cord.....) and it will start and run like normal. THat is what I did till I got it in the shop. After...

Question New to diesels and just wondering about starting

delta70, Rough running when cold. IS the first start of the morning, or a long time of sitting? DO you know the service history of the truck? There was a PCM Flash that addressed an issue like this. It is the Inductive Heating flash. IF one cold startup the engine runs very rought and has...

    Starting Battery

They work in tandem. So you need both batteries to be in good shape and matched up. It is recommended to replace both batteries at the same time with like batteries.

Help Needed Dead? or just sick

I had the same problem on my Ex. Had to replace the alt, and 2 remans..... they traded out the reman for a new one since there was a price change and the new was cheaper than the reman. The easiet way I found to change the alternator. Remove the small shroud off the top of the main fan...

mod for aftermarket ac to back seat

If you look next door at Oilburners.net a member there (RLDSL I think) has added a rear heat/ac unit from a custom van in the back of his CC. He says you could hang meat in there now. As for the Excursion, the heat and AC vents are in the roof, the unit that runs them is in the right rear...

    Your Welcome....

    Thank you Mr. red OBS!!!!!!

OBS is the 92-97/8 Body Style, the powerstroke was first introduced in these trucks. This was the last bodystyle that all the Ford Trucks used the same body. In 97 the F-150 began the "Triton" body style and the F-2/350 kept the "OBS" In early to mid 98 the F-2/350 was released as a 99 with...

    How much oil?

I have not done any HPOP work and have always drained and refiled with 15 quarts including filter, which drains to the pan when you open the cap. I don't know if there is a resivior on the 6.0 like on the 7.3. I have not heard it talked about. I would say start with 15.... start it up to let...

    My Summer Vacation

On the small roads in Europe: My buddy Travis, argve next door as OB, had a training class in Germany for a piece of Siemens equipment. This was several years ago and he saw a Smart Car, (this was before we had even heard of them over here). This is when he still had the Enterprise (92 F-350...

Replacing fuel filter when changing the oil

I can tell because fuel economy drops like a rock, and the chatter of the engine is quieter. To the point, I had been driving the truck on and off over the winter and using "Winter Blend" Fuel. I had not driven it much over the next few weeks, and when I needed fuel I filled up and took off...

the trip from hell and why i love my psd

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Bama, I like the looks of the grill! I personally don't care for the 05-07 grill, I like the 99-04 Grill and the Excursion grill. Your grill looks just like mine!!!!

Question Changing the Fuel Filters on 6.0

You can just open the back, where it filter is, which is what I did the first time, and yes, you will get a diesel bath. On the subsuquent changes, I have opend the drain with an allen rachet socket (the one with the allen wrench in a 3/8 drive "socket"). Doing this drains the water and fuel...

Question Changing the Fuel Filters on 6.0

I change my oil at 5K and the Fuel Filters at 10K, and use ONLY Motorcraft filters. I had been using Rotella Dino oil, but have recently switched to the Motorcraft PSD oil, and the truck seems to like it. I would NEVER go past 10k on my fuel filters, I can start to feel a performance hit at...
