Question What did you do to your truck today?

Those are going to set you back a bit. Of course no good tires are inexpensive. Fortunately my truck already had new set of WILD COUNTRY XTX SPORT from Les Schwab Tires. The last set I bought in 2012 on my first diesel (in my sig) cost $1050. I haven't priced them recently. Schwab's carries the...

Lets see those SuperDuty Trucks!! (OFFICIAL PICTURE THREAD)

Here's my 2004 F-250. Just got back to the rig from riding the Yamaha Grizzly today. Scouting for fall and hoping to come across some coyotes.

trying to narrow down an issue.

Picked one up on the way home from church today at NAPA. They said it's made by Stant and I get a discount through the school district. Cost me $5 and change. Can't hurt.

trying to narrow down an issue.

Just watched a video about the degass bottle cap can lose it's spring tension. That could cause problems. I just might replace mine as a preventive measure. Stant was the brand the shop uses. It has a much bigger spring and housing to maintain the 16 PSI.

    Doing Some Baseline Maintenance

Thanks for the replies. I went fly fishing yesterday up the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River. One pass to go over on I-90, 5-6% grade, then 50 miles up the river. A bit over 100 miles one way. Truck ran great. We camp up this river, too, so when school is out I can't wait to hook up the TT...

    Doing Some Baseline Maintenance

We're at I-90 east of Spokane, Washington so we get cold in the winter but not Minnesota cold. 20s-30s probably the average lower temps but we can get below zero on occasion. Quite often in the teens for overnight lows. In my IDI I ran Delo 15W-40 conventional oil and never had an issue. She...

    Towing liability

Four years late for me but a good reminder to read the owner's manual.

    Doing Some Baseline Maintenance

Awesome. I was almost worried I used the wrong oil.:( I know there is a 5W-30 as well as 5W-40 synthetic. Summer/winter do you think there will be a difference between the two grades?

    Should I Buy a 6.0?

Yeah, I do like to to hear the turbo and the feel of the but-o-meter when it boogies down the road. I want some economy but I get on it periodically to keep things "lubricated!":D

    Doing Some Baseline Maintenance

So are you using the 5W-30 now or the 5W-40? I wasn't sure which one caused the surging. The 40 could cause a problem? I guess Delo has both viscosities. I haven't noticed any changes yet but I'm heading up the river to fly fish Saturday so some highway time should show any problems.

    Installing CB

Well, I bought a plastic mic holder and removed the adhesive and used two Command Strips to attach it between the 4X4 selector and the HVAC controls. The unit sags a bit in the holder since it's not a tight fit like a metal clip. The strips appear to hold like an anchor which is good. I'm...

    Doing Some Baseline Maintenance

Oil done today. I was wrong on the oil numbers. It's 5W-40 Delo 400 LE Synthetic. Could have sworn it was 5W-30. Done now. Oil was $17.96 a gallon at Wal-Mart. Didn't feel too bad about that.

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Got the oil done today! Way easier than my IDI. Feels good to get the first one done.

    Trucks being stolen

Sorry to hear that. It's more than a truck. It's a part of us.

    Should I Buy a 6.0?

Overdue update. Turned out the EGR was all full of carbon. Truck had not been ran hard enough. Good for me. Runs great since the cleaning.

    Restoring Factory Alloy Rims

I'll look for the polish, Joe. Is there a polishing attachment to put in a drill to help?

    Restoring Factory Alloy Rims

My factory 5 spoke rims have a fair amount of corrosion I suspect from the clear coat wearing off. They were already like this when I bought the truck a couple months ago. I've seen outfits that will powder coat, etc., but I like the OEM look. Can the rims be re-coated to original? I know it's...

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to drill into the dash. Too perty!!:D

    Installing CB

Got the unit in a couple weeks ago. Joe, it is the Cobra 75WX ST. I looked at the manual and it suggested to run off the battery so I was able to thread the coax and the power/ ground through the middle of the three grommets in the firewall. The power box for the CB has no tension on it since...

    Doing Some Baseline Maintenance

Changed out the fuel filters today. Ordered Motor Craft filters on Amazon along with a Lisle socket and had to get a new oil filter cap since whoever changed it last must have used the Wix all in one. Draining the bottom fuel filter took forever. I finally put the plug back in after almost 2...

    Fuel Additives

Any thoughts on Power Service/ Diesel Kleen vs. Ford's fuel additives? The parts guy at the dealership showed me three different ones. Two for cetane, one was also with anti-gel and the other more for the fuel system/injectors which he said helps with the stiction issue. I run PS/DK depending on...

    Installing CB

I'm not sure about what comes apart under the dash and with all of the electronics in these trucks I can't afford to watch something start smoking. The old days you just ran wires wherever they could go and mounted things into metal dashes. This is a whole new world trying to not mess up the...
