    Broken Transmission

I believe the torque shift trannys are basicly just an upgraded/updated version of the 4R100.

    Broken Transmission

If the converter is gone or acting up naturally all the filings are throughout the transmission so it would be better to rebuild the trans with a new converter. $1600 doesn't sound bad to me alot of the replacement transmissions found on the internet are $3000-$4000 some with and some without...

    Transmission Temp Question??

I normally run about 110* empty and 125* towing 8000lbs. It's very rare that my temps ever go over 150* even in the summer heat. My transmission rebuilder told me to make sure I keep mine under 180* if I want it to last any length of time.

Truck in shop for almost a week, vibe issue...

I once had a vib in mine that wouldn't go away it turned out to be the slip yokes on the driveshafts partially seized. A little bit of cleaning, some good grease and everything was fine.

    Power Steeing

Thanks Dave. I wasn't 100% sure if the 6 oh's had a vacuum pump or not.

    Power Steeing

Does your truck have a vaccum pump? Does the power steering pump whine? I would think that there is a problem with the power steering pump judging by your discription but it's just a possibility.

    02-06 front end conversion

Thanks Tailgunner. I am hoping to save some money and find a kit without the front bumper and bumper brackets since I don't need them. That kit might be best option though.

    02-06 front end conversion

I want to do the 06 front end conversion on my 02. I need everything but the front bumper because I already have an aftermarket winch bumper. Has anybody here done this conversion? Where is the best place to get the parts? Is the wiring any different for the headlight assembly? Thanks!

AFE si stage 2 intake and AFE dual exhaust

That sounds like a good deal I paid more than that just for my exhaust but it is stainless. Where did you find these prices?

    Hard/ slow starting warm/ hot

My Truck always seems to start better cold than it does warm. I find that when the truck is warm and you don't let the glowplugs cycle it starts better.

    Block Heater

You're not to far me either. I'm about 4.5 hrs north west of you. What I do to remember to unplug my truck is loop the cord around the mirror that way even if your half-a-sleep in the morning you still remember.

    Auto Meter Gauges?????

I won't worry about testing them. They are both electrically controlled gauges so I doubt anything is wrong with them. You will need a temp sensor for the tranny gauge and the pyro probe like you mentioned already. The wiring is pretty simple 12V ignition power, ground, 2 pyro probe leads, 1...

New to Forums and need input

The stock transmission gauge is ok but are not that exact they basicly only tell you if the trans is cold, at normal operating temp or too hot. My factory trans temp gauge doesn't start to move off its normal operating spot till about 190-200 degrees and then shoots right for the red almost...

Welcome! Gauges, exhaust, and an air filter kit like Bama said is the best way to start your power mods. As for the suspension 33's (285/75R16) should clear with the factory suspension. I have the ProComp shackle and hanger kit in mine and it performs real well. You can purchase the ProComp...

    looking for winch advice

I have an 9000lb warn and it has pulled two trucks out of the mud at the same time. I did have to use dual snatch blocks. (an H2 and a toyota pick up both resting on the rockers) Really it's not all in the size of the winch it's how you have it rigged up. My 9000lb on a single line has no...

    ABS for Fronts

You can try disconnecting the sensor on the center of the rear end but it might throw the anti-lock/abs light on or unplug the wiring for the anti-lock/abs unit itself. I disconnected the unit on my 92F150 and it worked fine.

    oil change intervals

I change my oil every 3000 miles but my truck is big, (lifted w/big tires) does alot in-town driving and frequently hauls a trailer.

    Offroad tires for my dually..

A 275/75R16 is not a common size for trucks but to give you an idea 265/75R16 is 31.6" tall/10.5" width sidewall to sidewall/7.5" wide tread 285/75R16 is 32.8" tall/11.3" width sidewall to sidewall/9.2" wide tread A 275/75R16 is in between those two. You should be able to...
