    using the snap on mt2500

    I already have the scanner, but could you tell me which cartridge you use to run tests? I was gonna snatch this one: Snap On MT2500 Cartridge Troubleshooter Domestic 2000 and a K2/K2A key

    Starting problem

    SOunds like you pull the heads at that point. maybe you could fish out the tip through the injector hole? I don't remember how big that hole was though.

    7.3L vs gas motors

    Yea, i agree. You have to drive a looong way to justify mpg's. I figured it once (and I'm not saying this is totally accurate) that if I got 40 mpg vs 20 mpg I wouldn't save a 1000 dollars in 10k miles if gas was 3 bucks a gallon. But also, if i buy a cheaper truck and later i sell that...

    7.3L vs gas motors

    I know it's not a lot but every bit helps, and I like the prices on those 2wd's. POP up's for now

    7.3L vs gas motors

    Don't get me wrong, I live in cleveland and would appreciate the 4x4 in the snow. I just don't want to pay for the decreased MPG's and repairs of the 4x4 axle all year around. It just isn't a good trade when I can throw 600lbs of sand in the back and get where I'm going. There is the...

    7.3L vs gas motors

    I dont generally pull anything, maybe atv trailer s or a camper. I would aim for another 2wd since I dont go off road. I just want it to be a peppy street truck I can put car parts, home supplies,etc in.

    using the snap on mt2500

    I'm hoping it will work out for me for home use, since I'll only need it for a few vehicles. What about personality keys though,i didn't get any with the scanner.

    7.3L vs gas motors

    Has anyone driven both? I'm in the market to sell my 99 7.3L and was considering switching fuels. I was looking at some nice early 2000's gas 5.4 and v10 and the prices were reasonable. how do things like fuel economy, ride, power, pulling power, longetivity, etc compare to the 7.3...

    using the snap on mt2500

    using the snap-on mt2500 Hey guys, is anyone familiar with this scanner? it's been better than a decade since i used one and was wondering what i needed to get going? I have the scanner and an OBD-II (B) MT2500-46B adaptor, and thats it. I have a early 99 7.3L SD but i may buy a...

    Starting problem

    Maybe someone will have a better answer for you, but i'm thinking the side of the plug you can see is bathed in oil so that wouldn't do any good. The side that breaks off is on the combustion chamber side so your PB blaster wouldn't reach there.

    Starting problem

    I'm just about to replace my plugs w/ 200K on the clock. Has anyone ever broke one off? Does it give a warning? like when you're about to bust a bolt and you feel it twisting or is it just "snap", oh shat

    TS chip on a different truck

    I'm in the market for a new truck and wanted to throw my upgraded TS chip on whatever I get. Will My TS chip from my early 99 with a 6 spd trans work on other trucks? Or is it model or tranny specific?

    New engine oil change intervals?

    I've changed my oil at the beginning of summer and winter and I drive about 20K a year. Most of my mileage is 20 miles up the highway and back so 10K seems about right to me. Now if I started pulling heavy loads regularly or doing more city driving I would step up to 5000 or 7500. I've lost 1...

    6spd leaking

    That makes sense to me. My clutch was metal to metal for 20K miles and released up at the top.

    6spd leaking

    Really? Maybe I just got used to using a burned out clutch.

    6spd leaking

    I didn't plug the hole that drains the valley because I was too concerned about the amount of oil/fuel that could pool in the valley if i did that. What I did do though- I make a splash shield to cover the area so fuel can only travel through the valley hole and exit through the hole by the...

    Cant find vibration

    Found it. While I had the trans out I was looking at the driveshaft and noticed that one side of it wasn't rusty. I put it back in with that clean side lined up as best as possible and the vibration is pretty much gone. At some point someone installed it clocked about 90 degrees off...

    6spd leaking

    Here is a pic with the cover removed. I tapped one end of the seal inward and grabbed the other side with a hook and the seal came right out. Now I need to find someone who carries the seal. I also checked the input shaft bearings by grabbing the shaft with my hand and jiggling it. There was...

    6spd leaking

    The only real issue i see is the valley holding about a gallon of fuel or oil when i get my next leak. Not comforting to think about, but these aren't 100 dollar clutches we're talking about either.

    Aftermarket flywheels

    here is a pic of the clutch i pulled. does it seem right that the clutch material only contacted half the disc? its the same way on the flywheel

    6spd leaking

    Can i just pull these 3 bolts and find the seal under the shield thing? How do i check the input shaft bearings and replace the seal? BTW, this was one dirty tranny! I've been scrubbing and scraping layers of crap off this thing. It looks like a different case now that it's clean. Now i...

    Aftermarket flywheels

    On closer inspection, the flywheel is a factory unit. are these worth anything to sell or keep as a spare?

    Aftermarket flywheels

    the parts dont have a ford oval or PN on them, the clutch disc has seven springs, the lever has been replaced with an improved version, the clutch disc has 4 "arms" instead of the usual ring of discs. I assumed this was an aftermarket set, but if it might be stock i could post some pics.

    Aftermarket flywheels

    I just pulled the trans and found an aftermarket flywheel. are they all the same and interchangeable? This one is worn down to the rivets, but i think the flywheel is resurface-able. have a factory set i'm putting in for now, but i was gonna hold on to this one if it's useful. Thanks guys

    No rear lights, need wiring diagram

    You guys were right. After I unwound a roll of tape off the wiring I found the mess. It looked like the wiring to the lights had been cut twice and repaired twice, then spliced into for a trailer plug that was later cut off and left bare. It was color coded to a 4 wire trailer system. I dont...
