    Question EGR Cleaning Help

    if you type it in the search section there is something on there. it is very simple just unplug it and unbolt it pull it out and clean it in carb cleaner just make suere to cover the holes up by the electronics....install new gaskets and bolt it all back up...way cheaper than buying a new one...

    well i have the sct tune to turn the egr off and have unplugged it before and all that and my egr cooler is cracked and so there is no way that ive found to keep it cool besides keep poourin water into it haha but hopefully after next week no more problems as i will have all of the egr system...

    i'm not sure what you are trying to get fixed is it a headgasket/stud replacement job? if so here in texas about the cheapest i could find was 3k but that was putting arp studs in and doing an egr delete kit install and apparently nobody will do this around here without replacing the oil cooler...

    yeah there is a lil more to it than a block off plate i got mine from bill at dfuser and u have to put a block off plate where the egr went and on the intake and have to run a new tube and other things to do it right and one for the egr cooler thats why i am doing mine because of the egr cooler...

    i think this issue has a lot of mixed feelings i used to hear people doing this all the time and their diesels ran forever also heard the same about propane and other things on diesel trucks then you hear other people that would never even think about doing this and it will blow up your engine...

    yeah u cant complain a lot when the trucks been in a ditch and had snow (water) forced into crevices but i would start with cleaning or replacing the egr valve and diesels are cold natured so yeah it needs to be plugged in as mentioned u can run thinner oil
