    Just installed 4.30 factory gears 2 weeks ago. What a difference in power. It's really hard to keep my foot out of it now. Should be great for towing my 25 ft travel trailer as well. I think my highway mileage is gonna suffer though but it was worth it.

    Normal operating temp is 150 to 180. After 180 you start to shorten the life of the tranny. I replaced my stock 02 tranny cooler with an 04 model which is about 2.5 times larger.     Rattling like a loose shock

    I have a bit of a creak as well. I know this is a long shot but what about the front antisway bar bushings. Everytime I hit bump I got the squeak and once I show some WD40 into the bushings. The noise was gone.

    I've had mine for 3 years. It's in Stainless Steel. I had it installed when I bought my truck with a 12000 Warn winch. Looks as good as the day it was installed.

    The added bonus is that your son didn't get hurt. :) I saw a Chevy diesel 1 ton flatdeck hit a Jeep a couple of years ago on the highway. The steering column of the Chevy got drove back nearly 6 inches. Thank god the guy was skinny. And he hit the jeep on the side after it lost control.

    It's probably closer to 20 now with the changeover. I'm going hunting next week so I'll be able to get a more accurate. That mileage was with 33's and 3.73 gears and no lift. Sorry I should have said that at first.

    What kind of fuel mileage are you guys getting? I'm hitting around 23-25 with the Cnadaian gallon being a little larger. That's highway mileage. Or at least I was until 2 weeks ago when I switched to 4.30 gears. Definitely getting less but haven't figured it out yet.

    The more CCA the better. Cold Cranking Amps.If your running a diesel you should always get the heaviest duty battery you can find.

    I changed mine over last year. And my truck is the same as yours. It was easy to do and the plugs are the same. If you decide to do this let me know. Be glad to help. I have some pics and I can call anywhere in North America for free so I'm only a call away.

    F250 Front Ends

    Ford used Dana 50's in various forms in almost all F250 trucks from the early 80's until 2002 when they switched to Dana 60's for all Superduties 250,350,450. So if your truck is a 99 to 01 it will have a solid axle D50.

    Man am I ever glad I came to this site. You may have solved my problem with the auto hubs as well. They just started acting up. Works great in manual mode but will not lock up with the switch.

    Rear Diff Choice

    If you have any doubts. Go with the Detroit. But I've never heard of anyone having any problems with the Powertrax or Lockrite.Sounds like either one would be a good choice for you.
