Article Death of the Station Wagon?

That's right. My neighbor just bought a Dodge Journey and am always complimenting her on her new "wagon".

Fall and Winter is on the way.

We only have two seasons in Colorado...winter and road construction. Here is a pic of Pikes Peak that I took on my way into town the other day. Winter is my busy season. White gold will be falling from the sky soon!!

    Driveline Hum with VIDEO!!

Just picked the truck up from the shop. The hum is gone! Let's hope it stays that way for another couple hundred thousand miles.

    Driveline Hum with VIDEO!!

Yeah, it's coming out of his pocket this time but I am now a customer for life. I'm sure he'll make it back, especially since my original trans has 170k on it. :(

    Driveline Hum with VIDEO!!

**UPDATE** I took it by the shop that did the rear end rebuild to have them take a look at it. They did a test drive and put it on the lift. The shop owner said the coast side of the gears was worn extremely bad. The good news is that I am getting a new rear end, the bad news is that I am...

    Driveline Hum with VIDEO!!

Are there planetary gears in the transfer case? I'm sure there are some in the transmission. I took the truck in for an oil change today and they checked both diffs, the tranny and transfer case. Everything looked ok with the exception of the rear end. It looked filthy. Should the rear...

    Driveline Hum with VIDEO!!

If I have time, I'm going to pull the rear driveshafts(s) this weekend and take it for a spin in front wheel drive to see if that eliminates the problem. Hopefully the problem will narrow itself down. I don't know why I didn't think of that first.

    Driveline Hum with VIDEO!!

Sounds legitimate. I'll check on that this weekend. Don't you think there would be a change in the noise when I engage 4wd? It's got a new diff in it as of a few months ago. Since then the truck has seen about 3k miles of towing (12k lb gooseneck) and about 3k of empty driving.

    Driveline Hum with VIDEO!!

Ever since I bought the truck (May 05 with 42,000 on it) it has had a very slight driveline hum. It has stayed about the same until a few weeks ago. The hum is so annoying and loud that the truck is almost undriveable. It's loudest between 58 & 62 mph although it starts around 30. It...

Few good points of the horrible drought

I wish you would take some of our rain. I call dad in Odessa twice a week and every time I do, it seems be pouring here. Sorry to rub it in.

Is it really the pedestal leaking? PICS!!!

I think I fixed it! The clamp that holds the spider to the compressor housing was barely finger tight allowing boost to open the seal and apparently blow oil through. Pulled everything apart, cleaned it up and reassembled. Hopefully that was it.

Is it really the pedestal leaking? PICS!!!

Yep, oil in the valley and it's running down the block. (my poor driveway, you know a Ford parks here :) ) I noticed the problem starting about a month ago ~3,000 miles. I'm thinking plenum boot. Headed out now to get everything cleaned up.

    So what could it be?

Turbo is Coming Out...What Else Should I Replace?

It appears as though I have lost a seal somewhere in, on or around my turbo. As it sits, I have oil residue on the turbo, on the hood above the turbo, in the valley and on my driveway. So, while I have the turbo out, what else should I be looking at replacing? Basically, if it requires...

    First Long Distance Tow

I tow 12-14,000 lbs almost everyday but I do it locally. Anyway, we just returned from a 2,300 mile round trip to Huntington Beach and back while towing the travel trailer. Before we headed out, I went through the scales. Fully loaded with food, fuel, tools, passengers and gear, I topped out...

    any commercial pressurewashers here?

I looked into it a few years ago but the EPA regs kept me out of it. If one drop of contaminated water enters the storm sewer, you will be looking at a $10,000 fine. By the time I added in the water reclamation unit, I was well over $50,000 in machinery. Even at that, the sanitation...

    Trans Cooler Fan

I got the fans installed a few days ago and have put about 300 miles on them since. Honestly, I haven't noted much of a difference. I have turned them on at highway speeds and while stuck in traffic. Yesterday, I sat in traffic for about 15 minutes right before I pulled into my driveway. I...

    Trans Cooler Fan

Give or take a little, around $425. I paid $30 for the fans.

    Trans Cooler Fan

I can't afford a 6.0 trans cooler right now so I was thinking of adding a 7" fan or two on the stock cooler to help things out. The fans are advertised at 500 CFM each, would they make any difference at highway speed? Would they really help with cooling or would I just be throwing my money...

Someone is going through a lot of trouble just to counterfeit some injectors. I wonder what their reasoning is?

    TT Weight Issues

I do need to get an empty weight of the truck. I did a little reading and found that the front and rear of the truck should drop equally. With the trailer hooked up, the front didn't move and the rear dropped an inch. The front of my truck only drops an inch when the plow is raised and it...

    TT Weight Issues

I just brought home my "new to me" 1997 Wilderness 29S. It has a GVWR of 7400 lbs. The guy I bought it from threw in a CP Products weight distributing hitch. I had a full tank of fuel and my daily tools with me when I picked up the trailer. The trailer had just about everything in it that...
