    Short Bed Dually

I seem to remember that you could order one from the factory with a short bed and dual wheels. I've seen quite a few of them around over the past couple years.

    Brakes covered ? 3/36k ??

Wow, either you've got yourself a great dealer or you know how to make them work. I've done what you do to a much smaller extent (probably due to my lesser knowledge :) ), and it's worked okay. Maybe I should do a bit more and see if my dealer responds. Then again I'm moving next month so I'll...

Honestly? I don't really want to purchase any diesel fuel that costs more than what I'm currently paying.

    Brakes covered ? 3/36k ??

Did they do that because you've been a customer there for so long, or do they do that for everybody? Due to the move from TX to MA and vacation in between, I had my rotors turned at 3 different dealerships in 3 states, and they all charged the same amount. :dunno

    lighting up front

Yeah, I've got 4 KC daylighters mounted on a Ranchhand brush guard. See my pics. I don't really like the configuration of them right now, but I basically had to arrange them like this because Ranchhand sent me the wrong brushguard (cost way more, but didn't charge me for it so I kept it). I...

Frozen front hubs after only 79k?

When reinstalling the locking hub back in the hub, do I need to make sure all the teeth are aligned in the original position? When I looked this morning I took extra special care to mark it and realign it correctly, but does it matter?

    Brakes covered ? 3/36k ??

From my experience brakes are only covered under 12/12k, unless the brakes are defective. Warping is considered normal wear. That being said, $55 is what I paid Ford to turn the rotors. I had to do it 6 times before they were finally too thin to turn, then I installed ART. $150? I want what...

Turbo repair at dealer turn around time?

You may be on to something. I think they may have decided it was the turbo based on all the 03 turbo's going bad....or getting blamed for going bad. All's I know is they replaced the turbo and it runs much better. It's also possible that they fixed something else in the process, possibly...

Frozen front hubs after only 79k?

I just pulled one of the locking hubs off. Took about 2 minutes to get it off. I didn't have the time to work on it and get it freed, but it doesn't seem that difficult. Not sure what my service advisor was thinking.....

Turbo repair at dealer turn around time?

Geez, are you trying to make me show my ignorance here? I was getting an exceptionally loud clanging noise under the hood. Can't remember what codes I was getting, but Ford said the turbo was bad. If I kept it under 1000 on they pyro (with trailer), it seemed to be okay. Above that, or if I'd...

    Does you truck run different.....

I agree! Never really paid a whole lot of attention until reading this thread. Now that I think about it, that's how mine runs, too. Explosion days are good. And fast. And powerful.:sweet

Turbo repair at dealer turn around time?

Speaking from experience.... It definately may be the turbo. Mine went bad at 57k. You're right about the 1/2 day to install the new turbo. Here's the problem: there is such a demand for 03 turbos that Ford is backlogged a week--and that's with express overnight shipping. For me, the first...

Frozen front hubs after only 79k?

I just did a quick test drive (keep in mind the front hubs are frozen in the "auto" position): Truck drives fine in 2WD. Truck engages in 4HI (no snow or sand nearby, so I tried doing a u-turn and the front was obviously engaged, rough turn, you know the deal). Switched back to 2WD and...

Frozen front hubs after only 79k?

Just got the truck back. The hub on both fronts is frozen--frozen in that I can't move it from "auto" to "lock". I'll try jacking up the front to do this test tomorrow. Doesn't look good right now. Where would I get a rebuilt kit? I thought about Warn but it looks like all they have is manual...

PTO idle up mod - 2003 Excursion

Success! Blacksheep, we're not worthy :hail :hail I stopped by my dealer and asked the service guy for a harness. They didn't even squak at what I wanted to do because I had the Ford body builder printout with me, they were actually surprised the X didn't have the wire in the PCM harness to...

    A pillar removal

I assume you're talking about the molding? If you've got the grab handle, remove the two covers and four screws. Remove the grab handle and pull the A-pillar cover off.

Frozen front hubs after only 79k?

You're right. I should've mentioned that everything worked fine during each snowfall we've gotten up here. I did plenty of mashing and the 4WD worked each time. I hadn't used it in a few weeks though since we haven't had any snow.

Frozen front hubs after only 79k?

I've read all the posts on front hubs, but I'm looking for something different. I had the X into the dealership today to get things checked out before RVing season starts up. They called and said the front hubs were frozen solid, couldn't budge them for anything. $700 to replace them, $550...

Bypass filter blow out, left stranded 3 times!

Yes, very much different. The Amsoil setup uses an external filter that screws on to a male fitting; the o-ring is visible in between the filter and the housing. The Oilguard system is a bit different. The filter element is an internal element--much like the full flow filter on the 6.0. The...

    Exhaust recommendations

I've got the MBRP turbo back on mine. Exhaust isn't any louder in the cab than stock, except for the turbo whine. Outside.....well, that's a different story. Much louder and the turbo whine is pretty loud. You could make it louder if you didn't install the muffler and one other thing....
