Injector Teardown & Inspection after 8k on WVO

My filtration and oil quality question came up "over there", so I'll relist here for the curious My filtration varies due to oil variations (hydro vs non). I add extra heating, course screening and 400 micron steps if it's really nasty. About half my oil is nasty hydro with grill grease and...

    cat less

I'm not aware of any such list. Most vehicles have it listed on an emissions sticker tho, have to check mine. I wonder if you can tell from the VIN? :dunno BTW, I still have my CAT intact. Peeked at it yesterday while fiddling with the downpipe clearance. Surprisingly it looked really clean...

Injector Teardown & Inspection after 8k on WVO

I run heated 100% WVO after the engine warms up, mostly highway, 60+ miles at a stretch. Converted about 15-20k ago. About 6k of the WVO was in the last 10k. About half my WVO is liquid, half partly hydrogenated FWIW.

Injector Teardown & Inspection after 8k on WVO

I pulled injector #3 over the weekend to do a teardown and inspect for any signs of corosion or pitting that might be WVO related. Considering this injector could have as much as 330k on it, it looked pretty good. Some noticeable polishing on the wear surfaces, but the piston and plunger felt...

DIY Injector Teardown/Assembly for the Hardy (or is it foolhardy)

I figured somebody needed to at least show the basics of it, and now that I realize how simple they are I wish I'd tried it sooner. Everyone else stopped sharing info as soon as they found they could make a buck (not that there's anything wrong with that). I don't feel any need to do it for a...

DIY Injector Teardown/Assembly for the Hardy (or is it foolhardy)

Well, I tore #3 injector down today for an inspection after 8k on WVO. I'll post pics in the bio/alt forum later. Just wanted to mention I got the injector back together, and it runs (we'll see for how long:p ) I rigged up an assembly press and it worked great, 0 dollars out of pocket...

Chinese Injector Parts, whats under your hood???

Got another funny response. Sounds like they will sell small volume once they are making complete injectors. Quote below... "We'll touch you after we complete the HEUI injector. At that time it's no problem for us to meet your requirement"

Chinese Injector Parts, whats under your hood???

Thats a cool site. Alot of times cheap offshore competition spurs our companies to find ways to bring us better products at lower prices. I've found as time goes by some stuff moves offshore due to market conditions, then more time goes by and alot of it moves back here. Quite a few...

Chinese Injector Parts, whats under your hood???

I got a response, (quoted below). As suspected they are only interested in volume sales. I responded asking them to forward my info to any resellers of their parts. I'm curious who may be selling these. With the lack of emissions regs in China, who knows what volume their nozzle and plunger...

DIY Injector Teardown/Assembly for the Hardy (or is it foolhardy)

That is a great link:thumbs There is reference to a "Part 4, Injector Machining" Wonder if that was ever made or if it is still available out there in cyberspace somewhere. Crumm: I have several misc pages that I'll convert to the Wiki when it's available... Rich: got any 240cc...

DIY Injector Teardown/Assembly for the Hardy (or is it foolhardy)

BTW it's been awhile since Swamp has had the modifications ideas page available from his early experiments, but I found someone on AOL still has it posted  Swamps missing part 3, Injector Modification Alot of it was speculation, but some good building blocks and interesting...

DIY Injector Teardown/Assembly for the Hardy (or is it foolhardy)

Certainly not any harder than installing a transmission shift kit, at least as far as the teardown and reassembly goes. Of course if you have issues you would need injector test equipment to check for balance and nozzle break pressure, etc. But for basic cleaning, mods, replace broken spring...

    Radiator

Call around, I got a Modine with the tranny cooler locally for $289. That is a great deal for what most will tell you is the best radiator available. It's hit or miss with the cheap radiators. There is alot of weight up there and quite a bit of flexing. Personally I'd stick with the name brand...
