    AAAAAARGHHH!!!! OIL LEAK

Picked it up at IH on the way home. $10 compared to Ford$ $20. They had a pile of them. Not even packaged. Guess I'll have something to keep me busy for awhile :D

    AAAAAARGHHH!!!! OIL LEAK

Went out last night and noticed a puddle under the truck... The typical passenger side rear location for stuff from the valley. Engine oil too, and down about a quart. Valley was oily, so I cleaned it all off, plugged the valley drain, and drove it to work. 70 miles later, I have the makings of...

Actually, several Ford gas models back to 94 also had OBDII, but since the standard wasn't in effect till 96, they weren't all 100% compliant with the generic codes.

    85 cents off

Wow, bet the lines were long at that station. Here if a station is 20 cents cheaper than the rest people line up into the street.

    Voltage problem

Pull the alternator and take it in to be tested. Being RPM related is usually a bad alternator. Most parts s have test stands, Autozone for sure

Turbo Y to manifold intake hoses

Ouch. Go aftermarket. There are alot of shops around the country that do turbo hoses, find one near you. Probably $10-15 for both. BTW list is $36 on that PN, where did you get that quote !!!??? (PN is on the list now)

    fuel sender and gauge operation?

Doubt it's the sender too. Probably the gauge. I'm not sure on these trucks, but likely there is a resistor in series somewhere to drop the voltage to the gauge as well, 5v being common going to the sender. Whether the gauge reads full at high voltage or low, I don't know. Find the wire to the...

    Water in Fuel!! Won't Start!!!

Glow plugs, or glow plug relay (GPR) problems, will cause hard starts in cold weather. The GPR is probably the most common failure there. You might as well start a new post on that problem outside the 911 forum...

I had similar results with what EASE reported, whenever I played with the EOT mod. The scantools pretty much just work with what the PCM reports, so if anything throws the variables outside of what is expected, it's going to give wacko calculations. Probably only get accurate HP and TQ results...

    Fuel Question.

No pump in the tank. If it's only that tank, probably a restriction or air leak between the fuel pickup and the 6 port valve.

    cheap fuel tanks

Not specifically right off, tho alot of Marinas part out boats, or at least know where to take scrap ones. Start by calling marinas in your area and see if they have any old tanks, or know of a source. Got one of mine off of craigslist (32 gal stainless), the other from West Marine (12 gal...

    cheap fuel tanks

You've seen linoleum. Thats what happens when linseed oil polymerizes (don't run that in your truck. A lady out here got a bunch for her TDI, stuck rings in a few hundred gallons). Most vegetable oils we use take a long time to polymerize, and need exposure to air and moisture. Copper and alloys...

    96 F350 Died on highway

Too fast, interesting. Try the AC scale on the DVOM, it should pick up the RMS value between 0 and Peak, at least I would expect it to. Of course, cranking there would be a pretty good space between peaks, so that may pose a problem. However doing a buzz it should read for sure.

    96 F350 Died on highway

Hmmmm, I actually haven't had to try that myself. I'd try from 2 or 4 to the center. Otherwise rig up a jumper/breakout so center, 2, and 4 are still connected. Then check the voltage while firing

    Ball Joints

The replacements should have instructions telling whether you need the old shells. If you don't, you shouldn't need to burn them out. Have fun

    Ball Joints

The bushings can be a pain. They press in pretty easy but getting them out intact is near impossible. If you need to re-use the shells for the energy suspension bushings (annoying), leave the old ones in. Start by heating the inside with a propane torch (outdoors, it stinks) As the rubber...

    96 F350 Died on highway

Couldn't hurt, as long as they take precautions against static. Some of the IC's are likely sensitive. BTW I keep saying check the 12v, but of course grounds are equally important.

    96 F350 Died on highway

:hail Bryan KD, here is FordForgotten's IDM mod page. He found that the Joe Servo mod, surrounded in mystery for years, was just one resistor to replace. Basically it fires the IDM quicker by increasing the solenoid voltage. Not sure if I could fix a bad IDM. If I had a good one and a bad...

    96 F350 Died on highway

I seem to recall they all interchange, but get another opinion. The unfortunate side effect of the "Joe Servo IDM mod" being decoded is IDM prices have doubled on ebay. Best bet, if you get to that point, is try someone elses (wish I were closer). First do all the wiring checks, and if you...

    96 F350 Died on highway

The IDM may or may not be at fault. It worked enough to do a buzz, so it can't be completely bad Start going thru the wiring. Especially the 12v+ wires from the battery. I think they are connected at the starter, but could be wrong. It may just be high resistance causing not enough voltage...

Detergent additive that wont score my p's and b's?

When I had mine apart, they were clean. Considering the lack of any real clearance tho, they would pretty much have to be. If you find something, or a good solvent to use for cleaning the bores and tips once they are out, let us know! DZLJIM would likely share such info. The other injector guys...

    tranny probs

Good point! It wasn't so much that they weren't compliant, but the generic codes needed to comply for emmisions diags don't apply. They code reader has to be programmed specifically for the enhanced ford diesel set of codes, or it won't work. There is no generic set on these trucks. As far as...
