    96 F350 Died on highway

The CPS error may or may not be related to the truck quitting. Could have been an old stored code. Or whatever caused the original stall may have looked like a CPS failure to the PCM. Since it is the way the PCM knows the engine is turning, if the engines stops without the PCM knowing why, all...

    96 F350 Died on highway

If one is bleeding off all the oil pressure it would affect the whole system, but appears this is not the case Buzz tells you the IDM is firing the injectors during the test. Doesn't mean they are firing while cranking tho. Use a voltmeter Sure, it could be signalling late, tho thats not...

    96 F350 Died on highway

From what I've seen that seems to be more a coking related on trucks that are run full time veggie or blends, and should be a gradual degradation as the tips clog, IMHO. KD has about half the veggie miles I do and I'm pretty sure he shuts down and warms up on #2. Could be polymerization of...

    tranny probs

Sounds electrical to me too, tho double check the fluid level. Wierd things have happened to people when the speed sensor or it's wiring have problems. Also if the Electrical switch thingy where the shift cable connects to the tranny is loose or bad, or dirty connector, odd events may occur...

    96 F350 Died on highway

Injector pressure code won't set immediately, but it may have been set from draining the HPOP res. However with the ICP showing pressure building I doubt it is the IPR or stuck injector poppet. Still, with the valve covers off you can see if they are squirting oil. Better yet, pull a valve cover...

    96 F350 Died on highway

Batteries are important, but would not have caused the initial stall. The CPS rarely quits cold, without allowing a restart again. Check all your fuses, and check the wiring and pull the chip first, then; -Speculation/SWAG based on your description.... The Buzz test is an audible test. It...

    Checking/Testing injectors...

Hard to test the injectors for coking without a test fixture. Problem is they can looked totally carboned up on the outside, but still have enough of an opening for the nozzles to squirt through. The big problem is when coking starts occuring inside the tiny nozzles. Can't see it without a...

    99 PSD

There area a lot of 7.3 PSD's running both WVO, no real problems as long as you warm up and shut down on diesel or biodiesel. The Vegistroke Systems were designed specifically for power strokes. The owner of that company, if memory serves, had over 100,000 miles on WVO in a 99

    10k mod

01 needs less resistance I'm sure. Newer, 96-up OBS trucks only need a few Kohms to get the same effect my 95 gets with 40Kohms. Most of the early experimentation was done on 96-97 trucks, not sure if the 01 is the same EOT or not I use a potentiometer in series with my EOT sensor, so it...

    10k mod

As mentioned in the link, 10k mod (15k, clamping, etc) tricks the PCM into boosting oil presure to the injectors by altering the ICP reading. Can increase low end power alot, but causes a lopey idle, and not as much effect at higher throttle positions. The clamping versions use the voltage drop...

I'm impressed! Wish I had that much talent, not to mention the available time it takes to do that kind of work

    Finally, B99.9 by me

Cool:sweet I had about the best results running B80. Not much difference noticed compared to diesel. B100, the exhaust smell was strong at idle (like WVO:D ) and I lost about 5%+ on fuel economy

Got drums? Free 55 gallon drums in Silicon Valley

Another Source for drums on CL, in the N bay, Sonoma area. For months I've had trouble finding decent drums to place as collection barrels, and for oil storage, now they are everywhere:dunno I'll post pics later of how I usually set them up for restaurants, with a hinged lid and basket to...

    Tapping into fuel system

Basically, a solenoid valve that connects to the fuel system after the engine, allowing you to flush the system out with diesel before shutting down. Usually the purging fuel is sent back to the WVO tank.

Got drums? Free 55 gallon drums in Silicon Valley

Ran across THIS on CL, they're near the Great Mall off Montague. Picked up 4 yesterday. Nice, food grade, closed top, and they had vegetable oil in them, so no cleaning:sweet Had a dozen left after I got mine, and maybe a plastic one too. She gets more on occasion. I'll hang on to the...

    Tapping into fuel system

Makes sense. Usually you'll be on WVO within 6-8 miles in the morning. You can also plug in the block heater and get on WVO sooner too. Depending on the system you use you'll either shut off WVO 2-6 miles before stopping, or with fast purge approx 15 seconds.

    Transmission & Fuel injectors

Blown head gasket, while uncommon, can cause low compression without coolant intrusion. Low compression can lead to unburnt fuel, white smoke. Just something to check for, while checking compression. Another thing you could check is remove the filler cap with it running. A casual drift of...

    Tapping into fuel system

BTW Dennis, how many miles do you drive on an average trip? If you're not doing alot of long runs or doing over a half hour commute, then you might want to consider making Biodiesel instead. You can run it full time, no conversion needed. You would need to dilute it in below 50 temps, but a...

    WVO purging

Nothing, some kits do purge back to the WVO tank. Easy to build a time delay for a relay. I can post a link or two if you want to build one, about $4 for a relay and spare change for the delay circuit (a little more to make it adjustable delay). If you deadhead the fuel system (no return)...

WVO slime coating my fuel bowl

Hopefully thats it. Dana recommends heat and settle for dewatering to prevent leaving water solubles in the WVO. Pretty much how I do it, tho I haven't seen his exact process. He does sell plans for his setup if you're interested. Dana's prefilter plans One of the reasons I like sources that...

    Transmission & Fuel injectors

Assuming you'd do the work yourself.... Transmission slipping under load is a clutch issue, and could just be the TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) which varies with performance level from $400-$1000 for parts. Should also go with a $50 shift kit while you are in there. That assumes there is no...

Electrical - wiring - Switch Problem?

Disconnect the ignition switch wiring and see what happens. If that doesn't do it, something likely is shorting hot to key-on somehow. Try disconnecting each device with the symptom one at a time, starting with the radio. The radio has both key-on power and always hot for memory. Could be...

    Tapping into fuel system

That's essentially the conventional system used by most places. A few have separate filters, but to my knowledge the Vegistroke setup is the only one that completely separates the fuel systems. Even then if you use Jasons fast purge there will be some fuel mixing in the tank. Ideally, the...

Electrical - wiring - Switch Problem?

Wow, thats a wierd one. My first gues since you didn't mess with the wiring is one of the underhood relays is stuck on. I don't have an EVTM handy, but you could just pull relays till the radio goes off. Ignition switch is possible, if all key-on stuff stays on. Wiper and Pwr Window I'm...
