Auto Diesel vs. Truckstop Diesel Fuels

No truckstops in my area except for the rip-off SunMart Sunoco that most of the off the beaten path trucker just blow by....they hang with the gas station prices. Speedway and BP are the popular auto diesel dispensers....diesel pickups mostly go to Speedway because of the "Speedy Rewards"...

Auto Diesel vs. Truckstop Diesel Fuels

I've been wondering and keep forgetting to ask at the stations I fill at. Is auto diesel from gas stations #2 diesel fuel, or is it #1, supreme, premium, et al diesel? Reason I'm wondering is, out of all the times I've drained my fuel/water separator, I've only discovered water after long...

    reciever

Oooooo-KAY! I just scraped my receiver sticker enough to read it. It's a FoMoCo labeled V-5....12500/1250 weight distributing; 5000/500 load bearing. That is really weird and got to be a screw-up somewhere.

Air Conditioning time of season again!

Thanks for the reminder. The Super Duty was my second Wintertime truck purchase in a row where the only thing I didn't check was the A/C. In the case of the purchase of my '95 F-250, when Summer arrived and I first tried the A/C, all I got was heat. The blend door was blocked and I had to...

Actually #18243 is the correct application. The one you quoted is a 5er bedside installation outfit. From how the original post is worded, I think he already has the harness and just needs the connector, which is etrailer.com part #11775 (Pollak P-11-893)shown below. I think I paid six or...

Help changed fuel fitler and still leaking fuel lots

Nah....I'm talking about the one around the cap. The old O-ring was flat side up so I installed the new one the same way....no leak. Several times now I've read I installed it wrong and I'm about to conclude that even though it's wrong, that I got lucky and maybe crimping/bunching up is more a...

Help changed fuel fitler and still leaking fuel lots

This is curious....I installed the top O-ring with the flat side up because when I pulled the cap that's the way I found the old one (photo below). Mine doesn't leak.

    How much play in steering?

Maybe 1/2" to 3/4" and that's perfect. I'm skeptical of anyone claiming good driveability with zero freeplay.

    New to the scene!

I'm 14K miles into my first diesel, although I've been regularly pulling trailers over long hauls for forty years. My brother's a hardcore Dodge guy, my best friend's a Chevy fanatic, and I've been a lifelong GM gasser addict for towing even though you'll find four Ford trucks on my property...

    hail divits

Got 11 hail dings in the new Camry from the other night....roof and trunk but surprisingly none in the hood. The Super Duty must be made of cast iron. Good luck and give a report on the Ding King Twist a Dent.

New to Ford and new to the site.....

Being a lifetime (long one so far) GM guy also, I know exactly where you're coming from. I wasn't predisposed to buy a Super Duty and looked at and test drove a lot of Duramaxes and Cummins....but just spotting my Super Duty on the dealership lot instantly convinced me my search was over. More...

    Hi Ho!

I'm on my first diesel also, but am over the initial anxieties and loving every minute with it. You'll get up to speed in no time....just be leery of all these yahoos who'll have you yanking your wallet out for mods. Welcome and enjoy.

    Power when Towing

I've had similar experiences but discovered my truck will effortlessly pull hills in OD on cruise control that I have to flog it over manually. Have you tried it in CC?

    Wife says, "....

....You're not driving that gashog truck tonight, are you?" with the sternest of no nonsense expressions on her face. I said, "Gasoline is $2.89 per gallon and diesel is $2.54." and returned the look she gave me. "Ohhhhhh....," she says most apologetically. When blonde hair turns gray...

    Rake's not for me

I've been buying from those two stores for over three years and they've significantly beaten every price quote I've gotten from everywhere else. Plano has screwed up a couple of my orders but they really sweetened the deals with freebies I needed. My second favorite is Rocky Mountain Suspension.

    How to determine tongue weight

This system has always worked for me. It's staying within the receiver ratings that's important because the dually won't feel that load. For reference, my 18' steeldeck car trailer weighs 2100#.

    reciever

I haven't cleaned off the sticker on my '02 factory hitch yet, but the 2" SurePull Class 5 on my F-250 is rated at 14000/1400 weight distributing; 12000/1200 without weight distribution. However, at those ratings a solid shank stinger is required. The SurePull is identical to the Reese Titan...

small clunking sound in front suspension

Same deal here....ball joints, bushings, all suspension parts are good. I have an occasional "clunk" under the driver floorboard usually on braking from highway speeds; doesn't get transmitted through steering, brakes, etc. I read somewhere about cab mounts causing it so I've decided to call...
