    Tranny Issue

I found the invoice for the reman job. They installed a "XC3Z*7A095*BA Oil Cooler Assy" ($149) along with the reman tranny in Nov04. Not sure if you can tell from the PN how much bigger than stock it is. They also "updated" the radiator at the same time.

    Tranny Issue

Ford Reman tranny has about 35K on it. I was planning on doing a flush and filter shortly after this trip. No upgrades to the tranny at this point. When I fried the original tranny at about 98K, Ford replaced all the lines and upgraded the cooler. Not sure how big it is. I'll check the paperwork...

    Tranny Issue

Well, the 4th of July trip to the mountains may have just cost me more than just the expensive fuel. I was pulling the 35' fifth wheel toy hauler (probably about 11.5K loaded) from 5000' to 10000' elevetion over about 45 miles distance. Typically when I do this trip, I watch my trans temp gage...

    4th of July

Taking the 5er and the quads up to about 9,000 feet for 4 days of trail riding and relaxing with friends. Should be nice and cool and there's even some snow drifts left on North-facing slopes. :D

Interesting tow pics: "Walrus Breeding Tanks"

They used a set-up like that many years ago around here to haul powerplant generators/turbines to a small mountain town at about 6000 feet.

Trac Bar for Early 99' F250 Superduty

Desert, definitely on a tight budget. With just doing the level lift and buying a new utility trailer last weekend, it will likely be late summer before I get to start on tires/wheels. I'll definitely look around at some package deals and see what's out there. I was planning a zoodad at some...

Midwest, let me know if you still have the chip and what you want for it. Thanks for the info.

Trac Bar for Early 99' F250 Superduty

Maybe I will go ahead with the 35's then. I've already convinced my banker that we need new tires before hunting season. Haven't looked around much yet but are there AT's out there that will fit the stock wheel widths? Probably can't afford to upgrade the wheels at the same time. I'll have to...

Trac Bar for Early 99' F250 Superduty

Sounds like I better go ahead and get some welding on the bar/sleeve! Thanks again for all the good advice. At least now I know what a trac bar is and does which is more than I knew when I started. :thumbs As for tires, I'm really itchin to move up from my 285's (to a 35") but I've had...

Trac Bar for Early 99' F250 Superduty

I thought about welding it but didn't have a welder available and wasn't sure if I had more adjusting to do or not. It is a very tight fit into the sleeve and the sleeve seems to tighten up really solid. I marked the bar at where it entered the sleeve so I could check up on it periodically to...

    Adding clearance lights?

Being the cheapskate that I am, I bought my clearance lights through Cabela's (about $50) and just made my own wiring harness. Drilling the holes made for some tense moments and I'll bet I measured 10 times before drilling the first one. I used a silicon sealant in the holes around the wires...

Trac Bar for Early 99' F250 Superduty

Level Lift and Track Bar Pics (Hopefully) Before Level Lift: [/IMG] After Level Lift (Started with 4 1/2" difference front to rear. Now rear is 1 inch taller than front which is fine so it is still somewhat level for towing. Hopefully didn't get carried away with...

Trac Bar for Early 99' F250 Superduty

Finished! Midwest - I started with your idea of cutting the stock track bar but after studying it for awhile decided to use another of the stock tie rod adjusting sleeves (pitman arm to tie rods). I cut the stock bar near the top where it was easy to access, ground down the cut ends slightly so...

Trac Bar for Early 99' F250 Superduty

Midwest, thanks for the input. I've spent several hours searching the internet this week and asking all the suspension suppliers if they had something. Still coming up empty just like you're saying. I'm finding my early 99' is "special". I really like your idea of extending the...

    Question Who has Dash Covers?

I put a Dash-Mat "Ultimat" in mine about three years ago and it still looks like new. The Ultimat ($55) is a step up from the basic Dash-Mat ($35) and worth the difference in cost. I really like the way it is molded to fit the dash contours. I bought mine through Cabelas. ;tu

Trac Bar for Early 99' F250 Superduty

I finished my 3" front level lift this weekend on my F250 PSD (looks great!) and I'm trying to find an adjustable trac bar that works with the early 99'. Seems like all I can find are for the 99.5 and newer trucks. Has anyone installed an adjustable trac bar on an early 99 or know of a PN and/or...

comment Old Gas Pumps can't handle high prices

We have a grocery chain gas station near my house with very modern pumps (less than 10 years old) that has big digital fuel price signs. Apparently the sign programmer can't go over $3.99 as they had to put put up a big metal "4" over the top of the digital in the dollars position. Go figure...

Not wanting to bust in, but that brings back some great memories for me too. I was stationed at Barksdale AFB for my last year and a half before I got out of the Air Force (circa 1982 - 1983). Great pics!
