    yeah, I recall the discussions but was hoping for an update. I also used the POR 15 treatment. It has stuck good, but it looks to me like it's probably an internal 'decay' which seems odd given it lives in an oil bath.

    Thanks, I did that too. Finally...found a blown fuse that I swear I'd checked before! Now it is all good, except of course the original problem (dinging going on after key pulled) is coming back. Aw well, it's seen 15 years of near daily use.

    I keep putting this off because I am lazy...but also ignorant. Maybe you can help with the 2nd problem? The ignition switch needs to be replaced, for sure, for a number of reasons. I know how to remove it (disc. batts, key in and ON, push little nub in the hole below, pull the switch out)...
