Help Needed Cooling system flush. Do I need VC-1, VC-9 and VC-8?

The additives are a MUST when it comes to the green stuff. With the yellow stuff, they say you don't need to. Again, some have tested the stuff and found it wanting or barely adequate. The gold stuff is a fleet coolant. That way they can order it in 55 gal drums and cost less since they can use...

Help Needed Cooling system flush. Do I need VC-1, VC-9 and VC-8?

The thing I was reading was that International has some test strips. Green was not working out so they add the additive. Yellow is borderline and sometimes not. Red can be done straight out of the bottle. Will I run it for 300K or how ever many years? Probably not. I would flush every couple of...

Help Needed Cooling system flush. Do I need VC-1, VC-9 and VC-8?

No, nothing is permanent. Not exactly. the 7.3s also came with yellow stuff that you SUPPOSEDLY don't have to add stuff to. If you have green, you had best add stuff to it. The red stuff is what International uses. It is a more robust coolant. It isn't borderline acceptable like the yellow...

Help Needed Cooling system flush. Do I need VC-1, VC-9 and VC-8?

I have read somewhere that the Gold isn't all it is supposed to be and you should be checking the thing. Some have even added the additive. I flushed everything out and used a more robust coolant so I don't have to worry. AFAIK it is the same one that gets you 300K

    Abs pita

I don't know. If you disable the ABS system and somebody gets hurt, are you willing to risk a lawsuit? Brakes are something I wouldn't tamper with for that reason. I have a Polaris ATV and in my year, you had to engage the brake before you changed the shifter from out of Park or into it. My...

    pyro guage install

I would put it in the manifold. WGAS about what is after the turbo? AFAIK it is not linear so you can't just add 300 degrees to it. Best to get it at the manifold which is closest to the combustion chamber

    Replace bed or repair?

Had both and they are about the same. Assuming both shops are equally reputable, let price dictate.

    Replace bed or repair?

Put some sort of spray in bedliner in it or you might be back where you are in a couple of years.

You are saying that by removing my 4in MBRP muffler I can drop the exhaust temp from what I already have by 100 degrees?

    strait pipe

By how much? If you have a 4 in MBRP, for instance, how much help will it be to replace that muffler with a straight pipe?

Question Can I swap my V10 for a diesel??????

By the time you buy the motor and pay for the install, flush the tank and run the lines necessary and that is just to name a few, I think you would be further ahead selling what you have and buying what you want. That is, unless you have a donor truck and time doesn't mean a thing.

    Question Brake spongey

I wouldn't. I'd use some Emory cloth and scrub it out but I am afraid of honing it too far and making it like throwing a hot dog down the hallway.

    Question Brake spongey

I know it isn't but you already got the caliper pins idea. Another thing could be that it needs a brake fluid flush because somehow it got air in the system

    Question Brake spongey

Could it be a bad hose? If the hose bulges, it reduces the pressure. I changed only the hoses and the pedal stiffened up quite a bit. Could also be the brake fluid flush that helps some.

    Improving Fuel Economy

Good luck with that. AFAIK, ALL stations are selling ULSD for road applications at this time. This "new" fuel has been around for a few years. At this time, there should already be lubricity agents in the fuel. Could it be in the "teething years" there was insufficient? Possibly. Today, I...

    Brakes Question

Some moron, whose name shall not be mentioned :innocent drove the truck in spite of the squeaking brakes. One day, this fine individual got near the house and stepped on the brakes. No brakes until it hit the bottom of the pedal travel. When he got home, he found the rear disk smoking. Took off...
