    Can you ask him to describe the noise in more detail. A rattle, cackle..... I'm just guesiing but see if he can hear the noise coming from the torque converter. I also recall some 2000 models having the dreaded diode tranny but not sure if the noise would be related.

    During the winter many folks up North use Shell Rotella 5W-40 SYNTHETIC or Schaeffer's 9000 5w-40. Oil analysis shows these two listed above and Chevron DELO 400 are awesome choices for the 7.3L engine. How do you like Tony's Chip by the way?

    Have you noticed any difference the last month? ANy loss in MPG or the engine sounding louder? Some posts have stated a louder running engine & etc - I have'nt been able to determine if it's just in my head!:dunno
