Got rid of our Ex

Congrats! That's AWESOME! I understand buying the last of the last, that's why we bought our 02' new, because we had heard of the 6.0 coming out, so we bought new (we were lookin for a used 00' at the time & just bit the bullet). Last night the wife & I were looking at a Black 05 Limited...

Installed V Code & B Code Springs, HOORAY!

Ok gang, Just arrived in Mich after 15 hours on the road. The X with B Codes tows like the F250 now. Ride is unbelievable! Sway is reduced from the stock X springs. Reduced, not eliminated. I believe it still has some directional stability issues with axle wrap that the Rods will completely fix...

Installed V Code & B Code Springs, HOORAY!

OK Bill, the last 2 photo's in my album are the new ones with the new springs. Air Bags are not installed yet. Once I get the bags in, I expect to be able to raise it up an inch in the rear, we'll see. I'm looking for best ride for the $$$. I'm taking off for a 2 week vacation, so tah tah...

    Bombing's in London

I really don't have words to express how sad I am for those who lost loved ones in the attacks. My prayers are with them and our soldiers. We must bring these terrorists to justice! If they want death, lets help them get there faster.

Installed V Code & B Code Springs, HOORAY!

Hey Bill, I'll snap a pic on Monday when the X returns from Canada. My boss borrowed it for a 4 day "excursion" (funny?) pulling his LARGE boat. I got done swapping springs 2am wednesday morning and the boss loaded up at 7am heading for Canada. My poor wife didn't get to even drive it before I...

Installed V Code & B Code Springs, HOORAY!

I just installed V Codes on the front & B Codes on the Rear of the Excursion. What a difference! Both front and rear of the X now absorb bumps in the road like it should have from the factory. These are the same Code springs my F250 has from the factory. Expansion joints don't buck the X at...

    I got the SHAKES!

I've thought about doing the same thing & a tire guy said to run the spare on the rear. Now if you tow or load heavy often, disregard the first sentence. Tires dry out with age and the possibilty of a blowout would be higher on the older tire. How much, who knows? Heat and direct sunlight...

    06 Amarillo packaged Lariat!!

Sounds like a good looking truck. Once I saw the Tonka Concept in Yellow, I've been waiting for the new body style. I plan on waiting beyond the first year bugs though.

What speed are you towing at?

62mph is as slow as I can go and keep the trans from shifting (hunting) between 4th & 3rd. 65mph is good up to 72mph. Our engines like to tow at 2050rpms, at least that's where the best balance between mileage and towing power is. Above that the mileage drops significantly.

I've joined the BTS ranks today!

I have found the FTVB to shift harder in 2 of my friends trucks. I bought and they both liked mine, but theirs ended up being a little harsh on the 1-2 shift. Mine is perfect. I'm looking at funds and contemplating a full BTS this fall. Then the FTVB would end up in the wife's excursion...

    Front Hidden Hitch Install

I'm looking at that same hitch. How does the license plate bracket look? Is it close enough to the bumper so not to look stupid or would it need to be modified for a close fit? Thanks!

    Tranny Fluid Prices

Yeah I did the Mobil 1 & my 01' does NOT have the drain on the T/C. I'll be going BTS in the future, likely in the next year. Otherwise I'd put a drain in it.

    HELP!! She's bleeding out!!

I go with CPUNeck on this one, he said "why not try one of the dye kits like advance or autozone have. Seems there not that expensive and you could see even a small leak." I've never tried one of them, but I used electrical contact cleaner by sprayng down everything in the valley and...

    Driveline vibrations

I know this is the Excursion forum, but I think this is relevant, not to mention I have an X too. Just rebuilt rear end with all new bearings on F250, which removed the howl. Bearings were really pitted in rear end. Now it's quiet, but now has a slight vibration. Replaced rear u-joint on...

    HELP!! She's bleeding out!!

I used an electrical contact cleaner to track down my leak a month ago. The Contact cleaner removes all oil and left everything kinda white like a light chalk residue. Made it real easy to see just where the oil was coming from (HX mod) and since I retorqued the fittings, no more leak...

Rear Axle Howling at 89,800 miles

Rear axle update: I have friends at Ford garage with afterhours access. :thumbs Put truck on hoist and run axle in drive, it was BAD! Sounded like marbles. Disassembled and inner pinion bearing was trashed/pitted. carrier bearings were the same. The inside of the housing & components...

    203 Tstat from Bob Riley

Diesel Master, Great! I'm glad it worked for you as well! Again, my X seen big gains but the truck seen a smaller gain. I figure the truck was closer to optimal temps for good economy compared to the X. I'd like to go 37's but the mileage alone would make it too expensive! It's a bummer...

Rear Axle Howling at 89,800 miles

No flame suit needed. The crown of the road is a fact and your theory into the drivers side bearing going dry is certainly a possibility. My first thought is, it is likely! Second thought is how much oil IS too much? At what point would you increase heat & drag. One quart over may be the...

    Ford F350 Tonka Concept Truck

The Bronco is sweet! I'd buy the Tonka 1st. The wife says our trucks will be paid for by then. It's destiny to buy the Tonka in 2008 once some of the bugs are worked out.

    203 Tstat from Bob Riley

Definately. 3.55 worked well in the OBS. I thought about going to 3.08 in the Excursion for highway traveling, but wasn't sure about city stop and go driving, plus I'd better be ready for a BTS.

Rear Axle Howling at 89,800 miles

Tow Heavy = 12,500lb 5th wheel about 700 miles a year. Medium = 6,500lb enclosed trailer about 4,000 miles a year. I'm replacing the enclosed trailer for a Car Hauler. Occasionally I need to load up to 10,000lbs in the trailer. This will allow me to make less trips, I hope. So I'll be...

Heh, Heh... I knew someone would say that, I was trying to avoid being longwinded on my post. None the less, coming from an WVO rig, it's a compliment. BTW, I've been searching for answers to storage on my rigs & your system is a well planned & constructed setup. I have many questions for...
