    mileage info

Typically; there is important info missing from threads like this. Example: F-450 guys with 4:88's post 8-10 mpg and don't tell you what the truck is like? Anyway, I have only 1500 miles on this truck. All mileage is hand calculated so I keep the long term average on the dash. 13.8 overall...

Thinking of trading in your diesel on gas??

(240ZV8) C O O L!! (Falcon, 428SCJ) DOUBLE COOL!! I agree completely and without reservation: I pick the best tool (or vehicle) for the job I haven't yet figured how to hang my F-350 as a Christmas ornament OBTW: I bet the Falcon with the 428 CJ would pull your 5th wheel...If...

Thinking of trading in your diesel on gas??

I worked a good many years for an excavation contractor with a lot of equipment and trucks. His philosophy on his equipment was: "If its not out MAKING me money, its COSTING me money." That's a tough argument to beat. These can be expensive ornaments. I still believe the diesel will turn...

Thinking of trading in your diesel on gas??

Maxtor: I don't disagree with you. We are all feeling the pinch to some degree, even if its only a philosophical objection to being victimized by these circumstances. I am not of the "philosophical category: Money matters to me! My truck serves a REAL purpose (actually more than one..) in...

Thinking of trading in your diesel on gas??

I drive my truck whenever I want or need to. My daily commute is about 60 miles, round-trip, but I enjoy the truck. I am, surprisingly, getting about the same MPG as my wife's 6cyl GMC Envoy, so there's only the differential between fuel prices there. My 94 Yukon 6.5TD, is actually getting...

Thinking of trading in your diesel on gas??

What he said!!! A quote or paraphrase from T. Boone Pickens: "Our purchase of foreign oil represents THE GREATEST TRANSFER OF WEALTH IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD". Its time to slow that down and either trade it back or keep it here. Globalization is WAYYY over-rated.

    10.9 is getting old.

That last mileage was calculated for that that trip ONLY. The average on the meter (never been reset) is now at 13.2 (up from 12.3 at start of trip). I can give you my EXCEL spreadsheet if you have the software and want to use my formulas...

    10.9 is getting old.

Just took a short (220) mile trip. Windows and moon-roof open wide for first 100 or so; A/C blasting for the rest. Averaged about 72-74 MPH and got 15.5 MPG including a REGEN about 1/3 of the way through the trip. I only have 800 miles on the truck, so I hope it keeps getting better...joe...

I kind of agree with aklim...Get it fixed by Ford (under Warranty?) and get a set of guages too. Especially the oil pressure! WOW! I didn't know the oil pressure light was THAT bad!

    Question Gear Ratio Mixing

If you've got it out and laying in front of you, now is the time to change it. Are you happy with your 3:73? the gears set shouldn't be that expensive (you need the ring AND pinion for that change, I think). If you find a good set up, used and have it done, it should be less than $300 to $400...

    10.9 is getting old.

I just turned over 350 miles on the truck and the DIC (I LOVE THAT TERM!) is showing an average (since new) of 11.8 and increasing regularly. As long as its going up, my real MPG is better than the computer indicates. My first tank showed 11.006 MPG (calculated) versus 11.2 on the...

    Torn between 2 tires

That story with the horses is GREAT! Made me laugh out loud! (I'm sure its funnier in the telling than it was is action!) But is speaks volumes about what is really critical in a tire. The most important thing is the USE! What are you really expecting? Some things, like wet traction...

    Difference between 08 F250 and F350?

The brake specs (rotor sizes etc) are in the SPEC's section of sales brochure. The GAWR's are there as well as other stuff...Interesting reading for comparisons like this, but you have to focus on the issues you are researching. Its easy for my distratced mind to get off the track joe:dizzy

    Difference between 08 F250 and F350?

Well....I looked this morning and the 250 has a lower rated rear axle (GAWR, I think) than the 350. The 350, as I recall has a rear GAWR or 7280 lbs with the 250 being rated lower. Now, I don't know if that is based on spring rates and capacities, but I believe it is not. My recollection is...

    Difference between 08 F250 and F350?

I read SOMEWHERE (I don't remember where) the F-350 has an extra crossmember in the frame? ALso Are the axles rated the same? Suspension changes and substitions are easy IF the axles have the carrying capacity JMHO...Joe

    08 Tailgate Without The Step?

Oh MY!! Now THAT was COLD!:innocent There's always the "standard equipment step": Grab the side rail and step on the tire. It isn't much higher that tne tailgate step and it stays the same even if you lift the body!
